I was lucky enough that they had the correct tyre and I didn't have many miles on the clock so wear wasn't a factor. £200 for a new tyre hurt though.....

Ouch 🤕.  That's a fine example on why I'm contemplating either a Space Saver or full alloy wheel.  However, if your journey was a "local" journey, I may have been caught out anyway, because I'm intending to only pop it in the boot for longer journeys, so maybe I'll rethink that part of my plan😂

Quite.

In my cases it was 3 days for KF and a day for Halfords

The waiting rooms were perfect for a mechanic popping in for a quick change and not having to change his overalls.

Beverages were non-existent but plenty of magazines if you wished to read about tyres.

I don't think so (officially) as Toyota do not specify pressures for 1 or 2 up or 5 plus luggage.

As suggested elsewhere in the forum,  if you find problems with 29psi try experimenting with higher pressures.

Just out of curiosity,  does the TPMS system in the car throw a wobbly when driving with a Space Saver wheel ?

Not a wobbly as such but I suspect it'll continue to beep warn and generally annoy (So normal behaviour  ) - It'll still be sensing the flat wheel as the space saver doesn't have a TPMS sensor (At least I don't think it has... haven't actually checked mine now that I think about it!)
