Top Gun is an awful film but if you like jets, then you'll love it regardless. I had it on video and watched it loads. I'm still considering going into the RAF now, although I can't fly as I don't have 20/20 vision. Even if I did, I doubt I'd pass all the numerous levels of testing.

My favourites are:

Pulp Fiction (John Travolta is soooooo under rated).

The Usual Suspects (Grips me every time).

Leon (Just heavy).

Enemy At The Gates (Gritty WW2 film that isn't about America for once).

Scarface (It's a bit of a morality tail, and it's just one of the best gangster films ever).

Dr. Strangelove classic, one of the funnyest films I have ever seen!!

Falling Down also fantastic, everyone should see it!

Shawshank Remption

The Green Mile (one of the most memorable/haunting scenes, you know which one it is!)

Emporer of the Sun

I also liked Seven, Blade Runner, Event Horizon, and a few more I'll probably kick myself for forgetting later

I saw Johnny Neumonic (sp)last night, what a god awfull film!!!! I also hate pretty much anything with hugh grant in it, and that plastic looking annoying american bloke in cheaper by the dozen. they seem to be type cast for rubbish films,

Watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off last night - still a class film. Other faves are..

American Beauty

Shawshank Redemption

Forrest Gump

Dumb and Dumber still makes me laugh.

Loads of others but my mind has now gone blank.

Really don't see why everyone loves Scarface so much.

Really don't see why everyone loves Scarface so much.

I do mean the Al Pacino version and not the original Scarface, just to avoid confusion. It has classic lines...

"Me, I want what's coming to me."

"Oh, and what's coming to you, man?"

"The world, Chico, and everything in it."

(And of course, the classic "Say hello to my little friend!" line as well as "I always tell the truth, even when I lie" line).

It has guns, women, drugs, gangsters, violence... So obviously that helps make it good. And it has a wonderfully over-the-top performance by Pacino.

And it's got a moral - You watch one man grow from having nothing to having everything, but still wanting more, and then you watch him slowly destroy himself and the people around him through his own greed ("We're not winners, Tony - We're losers"). At the end of the film when he's lying dead in a pool of blood with the words "The world is yours" on a statue above him, that's the moral of the whole film.
