Ahh but its not totally immune....

Patch release for 21 vulnerabilities in Macs

Mac Exposure

Mac Trojans

Stealthier Mac Attacks

More Mac Malware

Yeah Windows is tripe in comparison, but don't imply Macs are "holier than thou" and are 100% safe from malware.... they're not. ;)

My iMac and I don't go to church anyway!

I once took my iBook to a KFC, thats a church for fat people :P

Ok, I posted this in computing & didn't get any replies :(

I get as many as 8 e-mails per day to me , from me , selling Viagra & other aids  I even receive Non delivery reports connected to this

This is merely a nuisance, but I worry in case it moves on to more objectionable things.

I run a full scan using Spyware Doctor (PC Tools) @ least once a week. Likewise with AdAware. I have AV permanently running in the background, & they don't turn up anything other than the usual tracking cookies & adware. I always delete.

Has someone gained access to my Mailbox (Oceanfree, a subsidiary of BT) & if so, What can I do ?

Haven't been up to anything, recently or otherwise, unfortunately :( Would have understood it if I had)

The affected mail box is Oceanfree.net. Mainly (Totally ?) Irish, with no spam filters :( Son keeps telling me to get rid of it, as I have 3 others , but a lot of things like Genealogy notices, Subscription renewals & the like come to it, so I am reluctant.

I don't use Hotmail much, but no probs. LaPoste, I use a fair bit, No probs. Gmail, I use a lot & no probs, except that sometimes when I log out, it tells me that I already have & that another user may have logged out before me :fear:

None of the spam from my address to me @ the same address shows up in my sent mail folder

Sounds like there may be some malware running, I use this ever since my system was hijacked. (No they didn't take me to Cuba just before you ask :P )

I run this alongside my AV and never have any problems, its not expensive and you can do a scan before you have to buy it and therefore see if you have any nasties before stumping up any hard earned beer tokens :D

I'll give it a trial run & see what pops up :D

Raistlin, Thank you. You are my friend for life

Any nasties?:yes: The trial scan turned up 37 Trojans, 1 mid severity adware & 2 minor ones. :(

I couldn't register quickly enough & took MAXpc with it. MAXpc found 120 errors & corrected them. This despite all the antivirus & Sweeper/ cleaners I already had. My son reckoned that I couldn't have this & AV running together, that 2 anti viruses @ the same time would slow my computer down. At 1st I was afraid he was right, but think it was just things loading. It has speed ed up a great deal now :D

I sometimes wonder, though, do the trial scans turn up non existent "nasties" to scare you into buying

That said, I am one happy camper & again, many thanks :D

I'll know, in the morning whether it has gotten rid of my "Messages to myself"

Ps. 121 posts today  Is that a record (I know, a record is round & black with a hole in the middle :lol2:)

Glad to have helped, :bookworm:

All in all been a strange day. I kind of got hooked on music today and went on a posting bananza drawing all the songs from my collection of tunes,

Hey Ho :P

I wouldn't put all your trust in StopZilla though as it overstates how many infections it has found (to make itself sound better?)

One problem, however, is that it tends to overstate the number of infections found. Instead of counting each malware program as a single infection, it counts each file, registry setting, and cookie. This leads to a highly inflated detection count which does not correlate to the actual health of one's PC.

Quite a few reviews stating that it is rather difficult to remove from your computer once you are done with it too.

http://reviews.cnet.com/internet-security-...3.html?tag=page

Make sure you read through ALL the reviews.

One final review stating it's sub-parness:

http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2163435,00.asp

So in other words you are better off not bothering with StopZilla, and definitely not paying for it when there is better out there for FREE.

Never had an issue removing it

This review gives 5 stars, I can only go by what I found on my own system, when running with a good AV and using all the MS updates I feel secure and haven't had any issues with it.

Still you pays your money B)

I'd put my trust in the two sites I mentioned over one called SnapFiles to be honest.

buy a burrito?

Don't be silly. Jesus doesn't look at !Removed! so therefore doesn't need anti-virus.

That or else he's a holier than thou Mac user.

Ok ! I did the trial run & was horrified @ what it turned up . I couldn't get out my Credit Card quickly enough & got lifetime membership + MAXpc for about $59. I have waited 3 days before reporting in. My problems are cured

I haven't been trying to sell myself Viagra for that length of time. It must have been going on for over 6 months.

Erm  Where can I get Viagra now?

I know that I have too much protection running as I need to switch on about 1/2 hour before use.I tried to uninstall Spyware Doctor (PCTools) & nearly wrecked my computer  Screen filled up with a blue background & a message telling me that if I didn't shut down immediately , my hard drive would be wrecked, & that if this notice came up again I was to contact my provider. I did, & it Didn't , so, SpyWare Doctor is still with me. Not to worry  Point is - none of my other safeguards found those problems. Thank you , Raistlin :toast:
