Sub & Amp

I have a vibe limited run sub that I got off eBay £150 the best for buck iv seen and had. For the wiring I ran my supply (Battery cable) down the left sill and the data (pre-outs and b+) down the right... Space was tight and don't want alternator noise :) and I earthed mine on a bolt under the seat because it's a clean earth. No sanding lol whole installation took about an hour that's with the cd player and all.

Forgot to mention run your sub and amp in for 20 hours so the rubber on the sub doesn't burst as it is still ridgid and so your amp components get used to heating up and cooling before ur bass is up so low to mid volume it hould be. I never and mine works intermittent lol gutted!

sorry in advance as this reply is going to sound like I'm talking to a kid, but I dunno how familiar you are with electronics and in car entertainment.

1) I take it you've run a fused power cable from the + on the Battery at the front to the power input on the amp?

2) you've grounded your amp to the chassis of the car, on (potentially sanded) bare metal.

3) You've run the L&R RCA cables from the headunit to the AMP.

4) you've run the REM cable from the headunit to the amp.

5) you've wired the sub to the amp correctly as most if not all sub amps I've seen need 2x speaker cable per input (so 4 wires in total).

if all the above is checked then:

is there any kind of power light on the amp?

is the gain at the correct level?

are there any whiskers on the wiring that could be causing a short?

are the fuses hunky dorey?

is the headunit set to output on the RCA's?

also do you have access to a voltmeter?

well it's a good start that the power light is on. :)

so can you take a few pics for me?

I'd like to see:

the amp,

the wiring from the amp to sub (both at the sub and at the amp)

and the dial(s) on the amp :)

if you could mate then I can have a mosey :)

cheers mate you don't need the high input connected so I'd unplug that and put it to one side.

see if that helps :)

thanks wangtastic, i took that high input wire off and there is still nothing?

where is the best place to put the earth wire?

also i connected the purple wire to the HU where it says system remote control and this makes the power light come on

Looks like you have the rite idea so far . if you pull up the boot ,fold down the seat , there should be a cross member running the width of the car ,there should be some kind of handle there ,should be two.

they are used to attach bungey and rope ,to tie stuff down.

if you have them in yours ,sand down all the way to the metal ,and earth there .

if thats not there ,go for the seatbelt anchor ,make sure its solid metal under there mind

well because the power light is on it's a good start it means you've definitely wire up the amp correctly (as long as the PROT light isn't on!!)

I earthed mine in the boot on where the luggage hooks used to be:

(follow the brown lead from the Fusion amp)

It's gotta be something on the HU or amp that's not making the sub work...

is your headunit set up to output on the RCA's correctly?

TBH I don't know, let me have a look to see if I can find a manual for it.

Bare with...

Right so from what I understand there's two stages to this:

1) Switch RCA to SUBW

2) Enable RCA's

so for step 1 refer to page 11 of your manual where it says SW Control you want to set this to the SUBW setting.

Then for step 2 go to page 9 of your manual where it says SUBWOOFER1 and set this to NORMAL.

if you don't have you manual it is here:

TBH all the headunits I've used in the past have had RCA's enabled by default, this is the first I've seen without!

My alpine has everything set from default. plug and play ftw lol
