Annie Lennox for me folks. One of the few popular (as opposed to classical) music singers who can bang the stuff out live, hit the notes and put some emotion in. Brilliant.

Don't you think Joss Stone sounds very similar to her?

Yes Joss Stone has a fine voice for one so young but her songs annoy the heck out of me................

A way to go before she is considered great but defo a voice to watch, so to speak

I agree - just can't get over how she sounds like Beverly! Not as good by a long way.

Heather Small (of M People) - now this girl could/can sing live!

Totally agree. Great voice.

Anyone here rate Sarah McLachlan? Floats my boat!

<_< I am begining to think this post should have been titled "Best R&B, Soul, Hip-Hop & Rap female voice".

Come on where are more Rock-Chick nominations?

anyone who sounds as good live as they do on CD deserves much credit in my opinion, and there's not many who do sound 'good' live :)

Unless they mime ! :D

In saying that though, the ones who tend to mime don't sound that good on CD either.! :P

well, you could argue that the best voices of today and the past were all soul & rnb singers...

there's a couple of exceptions of course - annie lennox was ace

and considering we've not had a male voice yet...

Rick Astley anyone? :D

what a legend this guy was
