No I don’t have a multimeter. Would it be an easy repair if the port is broken? The triple play is with a car radio repair specialist. I suspect he’s not actually inspected it yet even though he told me he’s struggling to find anything wrong with it. I’ll await his conclusion. Thanks for the replies.

well, he only needs to check the power  and data on the usb port, the port will be fine it will be a board fault

I have repaired a few x touch's and plenty of touch2 units, the triple play isn't much different

Ok, latest part to this saga. The radio repairer now says he’s stripped the unit down, nothing is overheating but the PCB that the USB is attached to is not responding (as originally thought). He is wondering if the original 2 button radio (86140-0H020) has the same PCB and can be donated to the 3 button newer version (86140-YV020) so it will function correctly. Any thoughts on this before I hand over the original unit?

I'm sure your guy has scoped out the data lines, checked power and done the usually checks, not sure if the boards are swappable they look the same physically, it was the main pcb that is different iirc

So worth a go or am I wasting my time, in your opinion?

I’m probably better off purchasing a different unit, but they are very expensive and I managed to get this one for £220. Albeit it’s not working properly but neither I nor the breaker knew that at the time.

I just zoomed in on your photos......

Sorry no....to keep things simple to connect to the adaptor cable you need this Antenna...

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174333137475?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=v59d1fnkq0g&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=0v63jnXjRZa&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=WHATS_APP

As said I will leave feedback behind. It worked. The next thing I want to do is to put the antenna somewhere else because i miss some musicstations. When i put the antenna on a higher place it receives more radiostations. Thanks a lot for the info I needed. But it works now 🙂

I stuck the Antenna on the top left windscreen (passenger side) ...it's horizontal and almost hidden. I fed the cable inside the side pillar then down to the dash. Very easy to do.

I also put an sma splitter in behind the radio so I have 2 antennas ..currently the 2nd one is on top of the radio...but intend moving it to maybe the rear window.

Hi @flash22 really learning a lot on this forum the past few weeks. Just bought an Aygo 2015 and replaced the radio with a 84160-YV020, works flawless. I thought of updating the to the last firmware tough. This is what we have now:
Aygo86140YV020.png

- Are you or someone else with the right file(s) willing to send me te latest firmware of the 84160-YV020
- We do not have an Aygo with the NAV module in it, so is updating even possible via an USB stick in the USB port (like in the Auris)?
- Is there a changelog on the update(s) since I wonder (a bit) why fix something that isn't broken.

Thanks in advance for the file and info.

What is your question ??

Prices for the triple play units are all over the place ideally in the 200-300 euro range, if you have the base car (radio with no touch screen) you will need to wire in a microphone

please read this whole thread

It may be worth taking out the navigation maps SD card which is in the glovebox, this may be confusing the replacement headunit, however, based on what's been said, this function should not work with the replacement headunit !!!

I spent nearly two hours today trying to get this to work.  You will NEVER get the carplay and android Auto to work unless you unplug the little sat nav box which sits behind the unit. (see photo). This applies to the units with the sat nav function.  Once you unplug this, when you use the usb socket in the car and plug your phone in, android Auto and carplay are they.  Works a treat.....finally.

Desperately need help on now to do this on my 2018 Aygo X-Plore. If anyone has any advice that would be appreciated

  • Has anyone tried CarPlay on the three button infotainment system with the new iPhone with USB C yet? I'm holding off buying an iPhone 15 with the new USB C before we have some kind of confirmation that it works with the old system.

Yes it works fine, You just have to be careful to use a USB-C USB cable instead the original usb-c usb-c otherwise you need  a USB-C USB adapter and in my case it didn't work.
Better using a CarPlay wireless adapter to avoid any problems.

Do you mean this kind of cable? Glad to hear it works.

Hello ! I bought my first car, a toyota aygo from 2016. I got rear camera and so the touchscreen. I saw that we can swap the screens to get carplay. Idk for the moment which screen i have, but im sure this is the 2 buttons one. So now i want to buy a new one with carplay.

Im from france, so im ony using FM,  if i swap to newer model, i want to be sure that everything work perfectly, so tell me pls.

Or its better to buy a carplay USB adaptator ?

Everything works fine with the rear camera. I am pretty sure because I replaced the screen in a 108 Top Allure equipped with rear camera (the two buttons by the CarPlay thee buttons) and works perfect. FM and AM works fine as well... it's just about unplugging the old one and plugging the new one

Triple play without DAB is 86140-YV010 and can be found in the 108, C1 (17 onwards) and the Aygo 18-21

the CarPlay USB adapter just give you wireless AC, it doesn't add AA/AC to the radio

Hey,

A saw lot of interesting information here, thanks all.

I have a Toyota Aygo xplay 2015 with 2bouttons touchscreen.

I would link to know if someone tried to update a 2boutton with a software for 3button ?

I'm pretty sure it's possible because it's really close archi and components.

I saw a video YouTube of a company did it + add an other boutton :

so if someone have a old spare unit and want to try this experience I will be happy to discuss with him in this Aventura.

thanks.

Fabrice
