So it has 2 reverse lights then ? If so, that's fairly simple

the last pic you posted are LED tail lights the white connector is for illuminated tail lights, your JDM car has the standard tail lights with no LEDs

Its 2 reverse lights, change the bulb on the driver's side to a red one (921 bulb IIRC) rewire and a run 1 wire

Bit confused how would I run a cable to a switch at front as reverse lights only come on with gearbox.

is it possible you to PM your number and we have a 5 min chat again I’m happy to pay for your time , please 🙏

Cut the wire, change the bulb to a red one, converting it in to a fog light

sadly, it's a bit of a trek for me to your location

Such a shame , again if you’ve got a spare 5 mins I think a quick chat would be better than messages as I get confused easily 🤦‍♂️

which wire are we talking about to cut ?

also would I still need the new stalk with combo front and rear fog lights as separate selections ?

If your saying pin 3 up front is energised with this and then sends power to pin 18 in rear passenger side on boot then it seems I would need to fit combo stalk and then wire a fog to the output of pin 18 is that correct ?

plus I’m not sure if it will pass IVA with 1 reverse light🤷‍♂️

So what I’m planning on doing is fitting the new stalk and seeing if I light comes on for rear fog then trying to find where on the wiring the rear fog lights are , any ideas is it the 3 pin connector or in bumper ?

Worst case as you said change bulb and wire a separate switch but i want to avoid running cables though car.

Apologies again but so you perhaps have a wiring diagram ?

Have a feel inside the tailgate for a large connector, the loom comes down inside the tailgate and joins in to the tailgate loom

IVA wise all it needs is 1 reverse light on the passenger side and 1 fog light on the drivers side

Check for the wiring at connector 3D

fit the stalk add the RR fog 7.5a fuse

i only have a few wiring diagrams for the JDM vitz

There is a large 3D connector in tail gate

are you talking about this ?

I will fit stalk and see if pin is energised where you said at glove box location.

do you know how the steering wheel cowling comes off ?

again I really do appreciate your time and patience with me

Progress located the 3D

so everything is now ready to test when the stalk arrives

I assume I would remove the connector and then turn on stalk to see if a connection goes there with car off or on ?IMG_8767.thumb.jpeg.efc7ee3cd8645357886c03b94dd340d3.jpeg

You just need to confirm the wire is there and the colour (should be green, but it is a JDM car) - add the stalk and the fuse

behind the glovebox, have a look at connector 3D - Pin 3 should be a green wire - 3rd pin up on the right as you look at it

Ok mate

both 3rd pin on right and 3 pin up from bottom are green see images IMG_8780.thumb.jpeg.af29ce8ae0318619cc83d8ae5bb49323.jpegIMG_8779.thumb.jpeg.a496b42394e463f575bfff76a2e240e6.jpeg

does this mean I can fit the new stalk and tap the fog light from one of the rear 3 green connectors ?

also when I remove airbag will the srs light be an issue ?

I will disconnect Battery of course , for now my plan is to just plug stalk in place without fitting and test to see if the symbol lights up.

I have now got a Uk tailgate unit with fog and reverse light in 1

however following the 3 green wires from the unpopulated connector block I can see they all go to powers , ie num plate light and such so all 3 go somewhere but there is a light green colour from the big connector that goes nowhere and shows up on 3D connector at front though it’s pin 6 not 3 so wondering if that’s the magic wire ?

again thank you , please let me know when I can buy you a beverage of your choice

3d is the top plug, The foglight wire I have arrowed for you

IMG_8780.thumb.jpeg.b236ad75bb934e3139d6033e166d91f7.jpeg

in the tailgate, the two connectors taped together are cable splices (wire joiners) The three dark greens are tail lights only

what colours do you have on the other part of the connector

IMG_8751.jpeg.a599b5fa78918e38791a03b4cb

Airbag, you do not need to touch it for testing, don't forget to add the fuse low profile Mini 7.5a

when you do want to swap the stalk - disconnect the Battery for 20 mins before touching the airbag

when you have the stalk you can go chasing wires, I will have to look up 3D pin 6 and what it does

3D, pins 7 and 8 have to do with locking, unless it's some weird JDM thing

This is all the wires for the big connector

IMG_8750.thumb.jpeg.04038484ab7d4c07effa5d5ab3f4b6da.jpegIMG_8783.thumb.jpeg.f124893bcf0fae5abae40f6e3402fd7a.jpeg

IMG_8752.thumb.jpeg.ff71ba2b25190e6d44ac5d3bd89e77fb.jpeg

so can I just unplug current stalk and then plug in new stalk (with power off)

then probe green wire in big connector ? (When I flick rear dogs on)

as I said the only green wire free is the very light green one in the rear connector

also do I put the fuse in the code box in engine bay ?

hopefully soon as stall is here I can do a rough test , if Iv got a long enough cable I could run one from 3rd pin at front to rear without switch to see if it’s running back

the 7.5a fuse goes in the fuse box under the glove box - if you see where 3D is, it's in the bottom of that unit, accessed from the footwell

the light green runs to the back of the car it then connects to the harness that joins the tailgate

So can I plug the stalk in without fuse just to see if dash light comes on mate ?

also what specific location in fuse box do I put the fuse ?

One last question I saw you did a cluster swap , how can I safely remove the needle to remove my speedo facia

is it just spin dials anti clockwise or prise up ? I’ll be sure to tape alignment

merry  Xmas and a happy new year btw

stupid stalk hasn’t showed up have messaged amayama to see what’s going on as I’m itching to get this working and tested

pop the needle off with 2 teaspoons, one either side and use them as levers or pull upwards - no fancy tools and I have done it this way for many years

A random vid off YouTube

Thanks I have plastic pry tools

so more progress

I have located the fuse and indeed the rear fog does already have one (I’m praying this bodes well) but rather alarmingly there’s a 20A tail fuse missing - any ideas why or what it is for ?

IMG_8790.thumb.jpeg.93f193e288df669076f241198b618c5f.jpeg

I also have steering bottom cover off so soon as stalk arrives I can plug it loosely in and test

again mate I’m very thankful to you for your help and hope you have a nice festive period

the tail fuse is 10a and is correct, I think you may have flipped the diagram

looking at your photo

bottom row  right is fuse 1 - 13 on the left

1, 2, 3, 5, and 6 are not used

Tail fuse is fuse 39 Top row left corner 10a

Ah ok

well stalk is in UK so hopefully I get it tommorow and can test , I’ll have to relook at pins but I’m told by auto Electrican that it should supply 12v when switched on

Well stalk arrived and fitted in place

tried chasing some cables but got scared when I connected to top pin 2 at big connector on boot and car gave me a warning on dash , a pin out would help for this connector if you have one please ?

got a auto Electrian coming as I don’t think it’s worth the risk me  blowing something up !

assume rear fog is meant to be orange ?

also how do I fit this new stalk ?

Seems a hassle to be honest wondering whether I’m better off with a simple switch but be happy to hear your thoughts 06183977-A783-41F2-917E-CA6654BB939E.thumb.jpeg.46804934f8ba3c66a7142ba0bad0d31d.jpegC21966FC-F304-48A9-A69B-06510D94EDBB.thumb.jpeg.226d6ed3e4fdc0f40141d038240e3556.jpegIMG_8829.thumb.jpeg.cfdfcc6cd5598b37463205b6788aee72.jpegIMG_8828.thumb.jpeg.078fb8220c890a13d5e713fae85e1b34.jpegIMG_8828.thumb.jpeg.078fb8220c890a13d5e713fae85e1b34.jpeg
