Speech Command Control For Audio System

I've just taken delivery of my Avensis T4 D4-D and have been looking through pp. 195-198 of the handbook, headed "Speech command control (with navigation system)". I've tried this out in the car, but, even though I hear a "beep" by holding down the DISP button on the steering wheel, the audio system doesn't seem to recognise any voice commands. I wonder whether this feature is only meant to work with the full colour Sat-Nav (I have the turn-by-turn version), or is there something wrong with my set-up?

I did exactly the same thing with my T4 - read the book, pressed the button and heard the beep. I read further in the radio user manual that it's only on the full colour map version not the turn by turn, and the beep you hear will be when the fuel/nav display highlight alternates between the two when you press the button.

With hindsight - wonderful thing eh - I should have got the full colour option but I don't think you can upgrade after the car is built. ;)

Thanks Stevie. I'll now no longer need to incur the sympathy of my neighbours as I sit in the car on my drive shouting commands at the interior light in the vain hope that the audio will respond!
