  1. I've pinned the main 'EGR problem' post to the start of the IQ club - which is the most straightforward way of drawing people's attention to the issue.

  2. I agree. Keep it simple. I don't want a full size spare as they do take up extra space, esp since wheels have got wider in the last 20 years. But a space saver will do me fine. It get's you from the side of the motorway, even if you're restricted to 50 mph. It also gives people an added incentive to get their damaged tyre fixed, where a full size spare meant that people would just stick the flat tyre in the boot only to be forgotten about until it was needed. Also, how many of us when we were young and foolish would use the full sized spare to get their car through an mot, leaving a spare with dubious tread depth. I think the bullet should be bitten and a new e-petition started just insisting on any spare - full stop. Then it doesn't alienate anyone and could even go viral. I think such a petition could be 'introduced' to the Motoring Press, many of whose readers will agree with you.

  3. I was wondering if a website admin could quickly evaluate the number of posts related to the EGR valve issue and perhaps link them all together. I don't wish to be hypersensitive or paranoid to the EGR valve issue, however it would a least put everything in one place ! Positive Regards, Bob

  4. Hi, I thought you might say that, well that shows that EGR issues are common, however this is a specific EGR issue related to the Early IQ's only that have a specific Toyota design fault. We know it's a design fault because of the modifications required to correct it. If you can do anything with all the EGR IQ posts it could help. Positive Regards, Bob.

  6. That's all as maybe, but I'd still be interested in the financial difference. Once you know that, you can make up your own mind about the hassle or otherwise of each route. I know anecdote isn't data - but my last dealer visit to purchase was so unpleasant I'd never willingly do it again.

  7. I had this problem after I had bought my carina happened out of the blue then got gradually worse, as Raistlin says its air leak related. Find the trottle body and underneath it you should see a green or black block with a connector and hose attached. This is the idle air control valve either its faulty / gummed up or like mine it was faulty and the vacum hose feeding it had a tiny hole in it, had to replace both to sort problem, 6 years later now and issue hasn't resurfaced so id say its fixed!

  9. Wow - I can only suggest you trawl through the priuschat forum (US - based primarily) and see of anyone's posted on there.

  10. I would have thought that low mileage use was ideal for PiP Yes in summer maybe, when no heat is required, but in winter the ICE will be running to heat the cabin. On a 3 mile commute like mine it takes that to warm the engine so the EV battery would hardly ever get used in winter. The PIP would be far more useful if it included a preheat system during mains charging.

  11. Hi Naomi. Your post is on the right track. Mike, Gary and Alan are all correct. Your head unit has a connector for a CD changer that you can plug the USB/Ipod adapter. The main thing with these adapters, so long as it the correct for your head unit and your ipod, you should have full integration. You probably are already aware that the steering controls will work the track selection. Sound quality will be better too. Google 'avensis ipod' and you should get a lot of responses.
