  1. In case anyone is remotely interested, the battery number refers to its dimensions. 2016 is 20mm diameter and 1.6mm thick. 2025 is 20mm diameter and 2.5mm thick etc

  2. I read on a post somewhere about "why is my oil always dirty straight after a service" regarding these BMW engines. Well that is because when you drain the oil out the drain bung, the sump still catches about 1 litre of dirty oil!! The drain bung is not at the bottom, it is a very poor design. So after you change the oil with fresh oil, your still running about about 20% dirty grim oil 🤐 Approximately 25 man hours into doing this job and its not fully put back together! All 3 chains, guides and tensioners are on, flywheel, clutch, gearbox is back in, driveshafts, mounts and heavy stuff is back together. Just need to build up all the small stuff up top, like EGR, EGR cooler, throttle body, injectors, vac pipes, wiring harness, covers etc etc. Then fill with engine oil and gearbox oil. I'd say about another 5 hours to go into yet before the first start up. And for the record, I would never do this job again, even for a ridiculous amount of money.

  3. Paul, after you find the correct jets I would advise you to only use quality premixed screenwash, as the jets are apparently not the best of quality and clog-up extremely easy. The drivers side jet on my 2012 avensis failed after a few years and was replaced under warranty, only to fail again after another 2 years. I replaced this avensis with a 2017 model and was advised to only used premixed screenwash, they haven't clogged up so far. Toyota will charge you about £15.00 for 1 jet.

  4. The fixed jets were also fitted to the first generation Auris and similarly there were options for different angled jets (ie. +1, -1, etc).

  5. Monday last week my dealer swapped my original Bridgestone summer tyres for Vredstein all-seasons. Can't say my mpg has dropped any more than it had already, but unlike the winter tyres I used on my lest two cars the noise level hasn't increased noticeably, which is good news. I plan to have them swapped twice a year until the summer tyres reach 3mm then I'll keep the all-seasons on all year.

  6. Even if the car's audio system doesn't read CDs, what stops you from changing it? It is not so expensive and difficult, you can change it with the help of Youtube videos. You must change it with a system that allows you to use an AUX cable and a USB. It's kind of hard to find CDs with the music you like but it's way easier to find and download it from the internet. Youtube is the main place where we find music and it's also easy to download it with Youtube to mp3 download sites. After that, all you have to do is copy-paste it on your device.

  7. This is mentioned in my 2017 media manual in the Radio Operation section near the start of the manual, on page 33 under the title "Time Shift Operation". It allows you to skip back (and subsequently forward) during any DAB broadcast. So if you miss something important, in the News, say because your kid's are arguing in the back, you can press that clock button, then press << a couple of times. I don't recall how to exit out of that screen, but the standard ways would be waiting a few seconds, pressing the Media button to go back to the Media screen (or whatever button to go back to whatever screen you want, e.g. Nav), or press a curved arrow "back" button that sometimes displays in the corner.

  8. For EPB problems it is always wise to use dedicated Toyota scan software 'Techstream'. Using third-party scan tools may not work as expected or even cause further problems.

  10. Apparently the software for the apps hasn't been licenced by the software developers for the corolla so no apps available via the estore. Until then we have to wait. Hopefully android auto and apple play will come along soon I have worked out a way to play spotify youtube and a few other apps on the screen via an android phone Download 2 apps rockscout and floating apps £4.99) Start both apps and connect the phone to the usb slot on the dashboard near to the aux port This then brings up the apps on the screen. Not perfect but a start
