  1. Here You go. There's actually a tutorial on how do change these in Toyota's own user manual as well. I think it was under maintenance. Just be careful with prying these bulb covers (lenses) out. Use some plastic tool.

  4. Well work on reducing the cars weight is still on going, and I bought myself a digital scale. I've also cut back on the bread and biscuits, although I'm not sure on how long that will last. I was able to do some more weight reducing in the car, and have a little bit left to do, but so far I've removed 5.385kg from the boot and under the rear seats, along with 4.130kg on the passengers side foot well (both front and rear), and 3.510kg from the drivers side. I still have a tiny bit to remove from the center console, and the firewall along with what's under the scuttle panel and in the doors if any ? I've also weighed the spare tyre and wheel, which is 14.56kg, and also I have the killer jack and accessories in the boot as well, which will be a couple of kilos, but I really don't want to drive it daily without a spare, although I do have a can of that tyre glue in the car. Next I think will be the seats, the fronts weigh in at 15.31kg each, and I think I could save about 5kg per seat, all sounds crazy but since having removed the sub (at over 3 stone) and the wiring kit, and the sound deadening, the car has really come alive. Does anyone have any links to good seat install threads ? as I may have to make my own mounts etc.. Thanks in advance.

  5. I don't recall seeing the transporter other than as the little icon on the various stages of progress of the car's manufacture as shown in the MyT portal. Here's a screenshot of the final stage of my car's construction journey last month - it arrived at the dealer! Similar to what you'll soon be seeing, I imagine. I do indeed!

  6. When you guys tracked your motor on the app or portal, did it show the transporter ? Haha as it says my motor is in transit, but i wondered if it showed the car actually travelling down to my dealer? Can you tell im excited ? Love that you love the motor Luke!

  7. The license plate bulb is W5W. I changed mine into Philips LED product. Very easy swap. These should be it: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-127996000KX2-X-tremeVision-6000K-CeraLight/dp/B00OYT1322

  10. If you want your car to engage the brakes when stationary you can press that hold button which is right next to the p button, when coming to a complete stop and wait for a second you will see a small sign in the instrument cluster which reads "HOLD", when that sign appears you let your foot off the brake pedal and the car will stay still. However one thing that gave me a scare once is when i got in my car pressed the start button and not moving at first as i was checking something on my phone, the engine came in and i felt the car squat a bit as if i was giving it gas but it didn't go anywhere, scared the **** out of me as i was not paying any attention.

  12. A total delight! The car is solidly built, offers a super driving experience, seats are so comfortable and fit well. Road noise is well below what I expected (and way better than in my previous Ford Focus). The acid test - the M25 between Leatherhead and Reigate. Concrete slabs make up the roadway that give me a headache usually. Not in this car! I have more superlatives 😊 One issue that blurs the otherwise blue sky concerns an A/C fault that is a warranty-repair matter (see thread in this forum). But that doesn't detract from my overall 4-star rating. Aiming to get a pros and cons summary here soon.

  13. If the OP plans on running the car forever then to he honest a service history won't matter. There are 's many cars out there 10+ years old and you'd probably be pushed to find one with a complete history. Even when they say complete history and I know this doesn't apply to aygos ) some cars have never had camber changes. So history isn't complete.

  14. I would be very surprised if a failing LED main beam did not necessitate a complete replacement headlamp assembly. To make the LED user or dealer-replaceable, would involve a detachable heatsink and connector assembly, which would increase costs, complexity and size. A while back I stripped down a 2018 BMW (I know, not Toyota!) LED headlamp made by Valeo (who also routinely produce European-made Toyota headlamps). In that design the headlamp LEDs - there were three for dip beam, two for high - were soldered-in and bonded to an aluminium back plate, as per the red arrows in this picture pointing to the faint yellow squares (the LEDs):- I am happy to be corrected, but I think the Toyota Corolla headlamp will be a similar enough design to prevent LED replacement outside of an electronics specialist. With the BMW headlamp, a large hacksaw was needed to cut the headlamp outer-shell open and remove this module - it was never intended to be opened up to the extent shown.

  15. wow that's extreme, luckily from my parents, I always knew a car needed an oil change every year.

  17. Good point FB's, but who really wants the hassle of debating whats what. Keep to a recommended service plan at least through warranty period. Of course, if you own the vehicle you can take the attitude "I can do what I want", but I dont think thats a clever attitude.

  18. Lots of people buy service plans for many reasons including 1) you can pay monthly 2) it’s usually cheaper then paying for services annually 3) you know you getting main dealer service 4) warranty is kept in tact. My Prius and the wife’s Auris service books include an air filter inspection at 20,000 miles, and change the cabin filter at 20k. Of course you can ask the dealer to change them every 10k if you want. Filters only costing a couple quid, my search says even the cheapest cabin filter is about £8, but if you want a better quality charcoal filter you paying more. And as for recommending an owner with a car still in warranty to “ go to a local indie garage with some kind of good reputation”. It’s ok to go to an indie garage for service whilst under warranty, but you forgot to add that the indie has to be VAT registered and in case of a warranty claim it is on the car owner to prove parts used meet Toyota standard. Other main car manufacturers will be the same. You may have a grump against Toyota, it when advising others what they should do, don’t forget the facts need to be right.

  19. No, but it shouldn't make any difference as Frostyballs has mentioned, with regards to taking out a service plan.

  20. Don't see where a member works has anything to do with taking out a service plan. I've used service plans in the past, for other marques as well as Toyota, and for us it suits. Service plans fix your service costs at the time they are taken out, you can also build into the p!an additional items, and you have a set monthly cost over the term of the plan. Using non-franchised garages for servicing during the new car warranty, puts the onus on the owner to prove the car has been correctly serviced should a warranty claim be made, which is dependent on correct servicing having been undertaken. Also non-franchised garages cannot undertake warranty work or recalls.

  21. I not got a service plan but my Toyota dealer contacts me re service and then again at MOT time, same with the wife’s Auris. Even with lockdown we were contacted re our services, booked in and a courtesy car provided. To those encouraging get your Toyota serviced by a local garage, that’s fine BUT if the car is still under warranty that “local garage” you use has to be VAT registered and you, the owner, has to be able to prove to Toyota in the event of a warranty claim that parts used meet Toyota standards. Other manufacturers will stipulate similar terms.

  22. Hi again, Mary, As I said before, I didn't want to sound nasty and there was no wrist slapping intended. I have just had a look at my service book and I have nine stamps in it, as I said, four of those are 40,000 mile services and my Toyota dealer has never contacted me to remind me of any of them......To be honest the only time they got in touch was after two years of ownership when they rang to see if I wanted to swap the car. My local dealer doesn't exactly inspire confidence with their customer service or car servicing and that's why I went to a local independant garage as soon as possible. My biggest concern for you is that I worry for when you come to part exchange your car and the first thing that will be said is that it doesn't have a full service history as the first stamp is at 20,000 miles. I don't think it will work but if you explain the misunderstanding to your dealer, they might give you a letter, explaining their side and practices that you can keep with your service records. In saying that, don't worry or beat yourself up as you have acted quickly now that you know but please remember, as Joe (Catlover) says with some kind of memory jogger, to book it in again, next July. All the best, Mary and happy motoring!
