I was linking my phone up via the bluetooth and didn't get it right the first time and so i went to delete the paired phone and discovered 2 phones.

Since the car records the spoken name for that phone, when you scroll between phones the car plays back your spoken name for the phone.

The dealer never checked that sort of thing before i bought the car.

Since you have a newer car than me, you have the touch and go system and I have the standard looking radio cd player.

Cool

I never bothered with linking my phone to car (except once for fun)

Yes

In the past discovered car still all phone contacts from previous owner and satnav shows car been to France too (previous car).

My current car have touch/go (think so, never bother to check - too confusing these days)!

It's T-Spirit

 - Tinted rear windows (but its tinted film , not glass )

 - satnav

 - rear camera (no parking sensors )

 - electric fold mirrors

 - spare wheel

 - downside: rear bumper damaged, all alloys scruffed, tinted film some tears, missing rear parcel shelf + boot cover

Mine is a t spirit. Just no sat nav. It was one of the first ones. In with the service book was the thank you letter for the first owner. That was dated 24th July 2010. Still wearing 2 of the original Michelin tyres.

I got to hear the previous owners voice, while I was linking my phone up. So I could tell the name she said matched what the v5 had on it.

I had the same problem with my Avensis when I tried to pair my phone. I had to delete the previous owners phone and numbers stored in memory. The dealer may not check the system and the previous owner may not be bothered or forgot.

I also found the pairing process convoluted compared to any other system I have used before. I have a second bluetooth system as part of my USB adaptor.

Wayne, you can still post your experiences and advice. The way things are going, hybrids are getting more popular.

5 year old tyres - cool!

How u finding the Hybrid so far?

Ordered your CrossClinates yet?

My car air con starting to smell again :(

Toyota just masked the smell by adding perfume to it...

Inchcape Toyota is offering a £15 germ decontamination now....so might book my car in when I travel on my hols next month...

At the moment I still have about 4.5mm on the tyres, so I might wait a bit longer since it is still decent weather.

It's a great car, just a pitty about the boot, You appear to have a different design of tray that covers the spare wheel. The type that is in mine have 3 sections, making it not much use. For most of the time its no problem, hence the roof box.

Sorry to hear your air con is smelly again, fingers crossed the decontamination solves it.

I think the parcel shelf for yours and mine are different...

Not sure about the boot tray (as mine is only one long section)

Did the Hybrid also have a mk1 pre and facelift?

Is your car same looks as mine (facelift) same as the normal petrol/diesel pre-facelift?

I can't say for the petrol and diesel, but i do know 2 years after they introduced the car it gained the sat nav.

I'll take a couple of photos later so you can get a better idea, i can show you the previous car next to the auris.

The first generation Auris's mid-life facelift went on sale in January 2010. The hybrid was first introduced in May 2010  - so all first generation Auris hybrids were post facelift models.

As with any manufacturer, Toyota adjusts specs outside of any facelift. For example with the petrol and diesel Auris, the T2 was replaced by the Edition in 2011, with an improved spec, and the Colour Collection (which Toyota seemed to use as a value added 'run-out' spec) was introduced early in 2012.

re. stinky aircon, assuming they *did* clean it out previously, it might just be the water stagnating in the system; I find (esp. when it's humid!) that if I'm running the aircon and stop the car it has that stinky driven-through-a-bog smell the next day.

I've taken to switching off the air-con a few miles before I get home to theoretically let it dry out a bit while the car is still moving, and this does seem to help a bit.

I also find it's worse if I've been using recirculated air instead of fresh (Well, fresh is debatable when you're stuck behind a bus for miles of traffic but you know what I mean :D) but switching it off and letting it air out those last few miles does seem to help with my wee car.

In wonder if anyone on here did a DIY decontamination of the exterior of the air con unit before?

I did it on 2 if my cars:

1st car: spray specialist decontamination into air vents (just a temp fix)

2nd car: rip out floor carpets and foot rest to reveal air con evaporator inlet tubes, detach tubes and spray INTO evaporator. U know it's working as u see the foam drip from under the car. This method was pretty successful :)

As regards privacy glass, for a while most volume manufacturers have used film instead of tinted glass. Cheaper.

Anthony, I have a similar type of stereo (different model) in my Avensis, and added a Bluetooth/USB/MicroSD adapter, via rear CD changer port at the rear.

It is also compatible with your car, if you want to do the same. CD's are becoming old hat these days and you can hold way more music on a memory stick.

The other option if you want to spend more money, is to put the later touch screen unit in.

I just use the bluetooth on my phone for music and phone.

I was just showing Wayne the difference between my 2010 and his 2012 car

The Avensis bluetooth only supports phone call and not music. I think it was 2011 models that added ADLP to bluetooth and USB. My Avensis being the early Mk3 missed out on this.

Luckily mine had the following.

 Following Profiles:
• A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile) Ver. 1.0, or higher (Conformed:
Ver. 1.2)
• AVRCP (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile) Ver. 1.0 or higher (Conformed:
Ver. 1.3)

I had to have a second attempt at get the phone and media, as the first time i had setup just for phone calls.
