Do you have 6V across pins 7 and 15 with the car in reverse on the connector coming from the new radio ?

I have worked out the problem

The can adapter  (black box with Hiworld-toyota on it) does not work with the yaris, so will NOT give you the 6v in reverse

Do not use the 16 pin connector from the radio

Instead, get a CAM-TY1-RT or a  Toyota 16 pin camera retention lead

You will need a camera retention cable OR you can wire it yourself but beware the factory camera runs at 6v (5.5-7.0v)

iirc the touch uses the 16 pin connector for the camera

Hi how can i buy this connector wire. As i have just fitted an android unit in my toyota yaris 2012 but reverse camera doesn’t work. I have also 16 pin plug

If you are sure you have the 16 pin connector - Connects2 CAM-TY1-RT as posted on the first page

i've bought an android headunit (junsun V1 plus), not my first installing (others cars)....now my 2012 yaris seem to not have a reverse trigger in th 28 pin connector...maybe trigger is made by can-bus?

Seller has explained me that need to join "Reverse" from can-bus with "Reverse" on the main connector of the headunit....but nothing happens when i engaged reverse gear.

someone here had this problem before? i want to know if simply reducing 12v to 6v to camera maybe will be the solution ??

a 2012 will have a 12v reverse signal on pin 2 (red, iirc) and nothing on can bus (the stereo requirers a reverse signal to switch the display

44499465_tt228pin.thumb.jpg.20cc3a93c0d10e279116cccb135ba064.jpg

The camera input is on the 24 pin connector

12 - 6v use a voltage reg like a 7806

do not put full time switched power to the camera

Sorry....my 28 pin connector has pin2 empty....i know is the pin where others toyota has a reverse trigger wire....i understand that with this pin populated...brown cable in the harnnes activate the reverse on radio.....(seller told me to join this brown wire with a pink one marked as back on canbus)

My camera connector is a 16 pin (black housing)

in other forums i've read than need to locate a red wire on left side (near fuse box) that is the reverse trigger...and populate with that cable onto pin2 (28 pin connector)

the i have to convert 12v from radio to 6v to camera.....i will made this cable as shown in picture...shame-ish

My mistake i forgot the touch used the 16 pin

reverse should be on the 24 pin connector, Pin 5 - there is not a reverse on can before 2014 (1st facelift, Touch2)

Otherwise, you can take it from the Instrument panel junction connector 3D pin 28 (pin 29 on 2014 and up)

i finally did it before read this.....

i had to connect a trigger wire from connector 3d....but in my car is pin 29 (tested with a multimeter....normally 0v ....12v when reverse is engaged)
then i run a cable from this connector to the 28pin (i was trying to get a female pin to crimp and insert it.....but cant find any on my toolbox)
i made a connector with two faston crimped....just in case to make it reversible. joined this cable with brown on pin3 main android connector, and "voila"...it works

cam is working, not sure if radio send 12v o 6v.....i forget to check it...but it works ok

just write this post to confirm......

CANBOX send 6v to Oem camera
Radio switch to camera image when engaged reverse gear.....12v is fed to radio through pin 2 (populated with a cable coming from driver side pin 29 ....i think its rear reverse light cable)

Yaris 2012 ...no need to install a voltage reg or stepdown.

PD: GPS factory antena is retrofitted using an adaptor cable

@macoloco I have same car, same radio and same 16 pin connector for camera. Unfortunately I don't have wiring skills and the only page I found selling this retention cable is https://www.albanycarstereo.com.au/shop/product/apvty01/ , which is from Australia and doesn't ship to Germany. Can I pay you so you ship to me whatever wiring worked for you ? If the answer is yes here you have my email: gabrielbb0306@gmail.com

@flash22 Thanks. I ordered this adapter. Turns out my 2012 Hybrid has 24 connector and not 16 as I said before 🙂 . I'm also following this documentation @Offbeat Dave made which seems to be very similar to what @macoloco did and you recommended. I just have one big curiosity remaining about this process: How come the original "Toyota Touch" radio receives a REV signal successfully if not from this wire behind the glovebox (pin 28 or 29) . Shouldn't this wire be somewhere in the harnesses that we can find in the dash? Otherwise how is the OEM setup working ? I confirmed my pin 2 in 28 connector is empty, just like @macoloco 's

2012 touch should have the 16 pin for the CAM

reverse is on pin 2 on the 28 pin connector (standard up to early 2014)

The 24 connector in my Yaris 2012 Hybrid seems to match this:

So forget about the red wire I mentioned before 🙂 This is not reverse, is "power supply for the camera".

The 28 connector seems to match this (as my pin 2 is empty) :

I finally did it ! Messing with the car wiring was not necessary ! The "Junsun V1 Pro" Android radio comes with a "reverse" brown cable, this one is an output and I confirmed with a volt meter that it gives 12v-13v only when car is in R. This cable is coming from the canbus that came with the product, so, contrary to how it was said before somewhere in this thread, the Toyota Yaris 2012 (at least the Hybrid) does communicates the reverse signal through there. This is why no matter how much I looked I didn't find any reverse cable going to the OEM Touch Radio. Now, the Android radio was originally wired to receive a reverse signal through pin 2 in the 28 pin connector as @flash22 said, but neither me nor @macoloco had this pin populated, it was empty. So what I did is, following what @macoloco said, I tapped the brown reverse output cable to the the cable #3 in the android main connector (the black set of cables next to the radio fuse), which also happens to be brown. This pin #3 is indeed input for the reverse signal. I'm not sure why @macoloco had to mess with his car wiring behind the glove box, I guess he was not receiving the reverse signal from the included brown cable ? Anyway, I'm glad we both got what we wanted, is good to know there are different ways to achieve this. Thanks again to @flash22 for all the help

the black box is a can bus adapter the Pink wire "back" will give you 12v in reverse

as yours is an early mk3, it may not have reverse signal on can bus

@kostas79 but in my last comment I thought I was specific enough. You need to tap your "back" or "reverse" cable into the cable #3 (brown) on the main black connector right behind your radio. Peel the cable off and connect the pink wire (in mine it was brown) to it with some electrical tape over it (I later replaced the electrical tape with heatshrink for a more professional job but is not mandatory) . If you want confirmation before peeling the cable check that this cable #3 is going to the 28 pin connector on pin #2 . If this is the case you will probably find that the car is not really filling this pin (if it was you would be getting the reverse signal) that's why you have to provide it in another way
