Never had a problem with MER.

Bike comes up spangly every time, and that's red, and the comes out shiny too (silver).

Maybe it doesn't like the darker colours?

Dunno. I use it on the bike more, just because of the effect it has on polished areas.

Top job.

didn't someone say once that there are 2 grades of Halfrauds??

You can tell the status of the shop by the colour of the sign or something. Blue or Orange if i recall. One of them is a sort of superbranch that does everything. I know only some of them do the paint mixing service.

Anyone???

Yes, they call them 'high street stores' and 'superstores' though a check on their site shows about ten superstores fairly near to me!

In that case the Orange ones are probably the ones with Ripspeed and therefore lodes of stuff in. I know my local one is .. and its got Meguiars but just recently though.

So what's the best way to wax the car then?

Wash and dry it first, then apply wax bit by bit, rub it in and buff it?

Check out

The 29 min section at the top is a good introduction to proper car surface care. As i said before as long you get from a reputable brand, the job it does is what is important so even though the segment is Meguairs specific it applies to other makers ranges as well.

My gold yaris shines brightly and i use turtle wax polishing wax. Seems to do a great job. Tho i am considering buying autoglm next time after getting their perfect polisihing cloth.

This might be really stupid of me but has anyone polished/ waxed their alloy wheels? Just mondering if it will repel brake dust. I know you can get specific stuf for this but dont really want it.

Soapy water you must be mad!

Jet wash my alloys, takes a second on each one, then dry them off.

Used to get down on my hands and knees and give them a good hand scrub, but its so hard to reach some parts of the wheels.

Went on their website - http://www.meguiars.co.uk/

I guess its the Deep Crystal Polish to get.

Basically...

1. Rinse the car over

2. Clean the car, (sponge and soap in hand)

3. Chamois the car

4. Apply this daddy polish panel by panel

And enjoy?

Mine hasn't had a wax or polish since about April last year and this is how it looked the last time i did a quick wash.... it's all in the technique!

Haha, o its really fun. Kinda lazy, kind of quick, kind of not professional but it gets the major filth off and goes filty to mud free in about 2mins. Then you have the base done and you can build up the soap, the polish and the wax from there.
