The Countrys Going To Hell

The problem is the people who have strong views about sorting this country out .. usually have massive racist undertones.

I want someone to sort it out, but not burning crosses and wearing sheets thanks.

well, i think that is true in some cases...

But its also another problem..

If you say there is too much immigration in this country - such as my small Wiltshire market town where i now hear as much russian as i do english - people accuse me of being racist...

I mean, only this week Newcastle was slated for being 'too white!' i mean come on!

I think people confuse other's feelings with racism. Many people are afraid of immigration but they aren't racist... It's just the current system is a bag of pants.

I seriously don't have a problem with people coming into the country as long as they bring skills here, are going into a full time job which pays taxes into the system and they can speak at least enough English to live by. I wouldn't consider going to live in another country unless I could, or was serious about learning the langauge. Canada has a good entry system based on points. Plus any of your family coming in should have to undergo the same test. But by saying that they should at least speak some English, some people will think I am being racist and I am not and anyone who knows me can attest to that - apart from a few joking shots at the French ;)

Too often I hear people slagging off immigrants to this country and those doing the loudest complaining are usually chavy scumbags who sponge off of the state! Get rid of them as we let immigrants in on a one for one basis. Sorted!

yeah, im not racist, and i have nothign against someone coming to this country to work, find a better life for their family...

My missues have worked in 2 different european countries in the last few years, spain and now Belgium.

In both cases, she has made an effort to learn the language, and has gone there WITH a job - and in both cases, she couldnt actually move there without one.

In both countries, you need a job to get an identity card/number, which you need to be able to rent somewhere to live etc etc... I wont go into details, but there was a lot she had to go through just to work in another european country - and yet, and i apologise if im incorrect, as i dont know, it seems as if you turn up at heathrow, say your an immigrant or want asylum, and we give you a house and benifits, and from what i can tell, say you cant actually work for a year!

but i dont know for certain there, so i could be wrong... but as has been said, i wouldnt move to another country without expecting to speak their language, live by their rules, and work for a living...

The thing is I'm an "immigrant" .. I wasn't born in this country ..

I've been here about 15 years now (currently 28), Okay, I attended schools and went to Uni. But I didn't get a grant, I've never been on the dole. I work hard and, luckily, payed reasonably for what I do. I'm a damn site better than a lot of the "council estate scum" and other "immigrants" that are in this country.

But I can't afford a house, I've no wife/kids so I'm taxed a lot. I enjoy a drive, but cause I'm a lad I have to pay more for my hobby.

It's all wrong.

right, but (and correct me if im wrong) you came here with your family, who came here to work...

i think a lot of people use the term 'immigrant' to describe a certain type of immigrant (normally illegal/asylum seeker) and not the genuine immigrants..

I have nothing against anyone who lives and works in this country, regardless of their heritage - what winds me up is both the brits and others who do no work and suck our benifits system dry...

The original point to do with gambling is true... we have a number of large gambling clients we do PPC (pay per click) advertising for... we are having to change all our creative..

We cant put stuff like: Play, Click, Join, Win, Bet, Money or the Names of specific games

How the hell are we sposed to advertise?

BTW.. Vancouver is very nice...

And yeah... people are becoming desensitised on matters which shouldnt happen in the first place.. let alone frequently.

yeah - so jumping back to that topic...

We can have these huge US style casino's, where you can gamble 24/7 - but if you go to an online gambling site they cant encorage you to gamble????

riiiiiiiiiiight

Some of my family was already here. I came over on my own.

Why is it governments always bring in so many NEW laws, but never seem to get rid of the old ones?

Tell me about it - where I live sucks as it's just a benefit haven. Parks are being destroyed to build homes for these people, local facilities demolished to build more houses for these people (my Mum's going to a meeting tonight to protest about our local stadium getting knocked down to build more homes), 70% of homes down my road have been bought to let because the nice people have moved on...

There was a time when I was a girl that we knew almost every family in the street and would stop and chat. Now, I pull up on the drive, lock the car and close the front door to a delapidated s-hole all because I'm 'lucky' enough to live 3m from Heathrow Airport.

I shouldn't get started on this as it makes me extremely angry to see an area I was bought up in go down-hill so rapidly. It was never perfect, but now it's a pure dump, where no one knows their neighbours and hardly anyone speaks English.

and the moment a geninue person who's worked hard and is going through a bad patch needs some help - he's turned away, another way to bump up the statistics!

Tell me about it!!

All the years of contributions that I have put in don't mean diddly. :ffs:

I haven't had any benefits, allowances or assistance for the past seven months. :(

Apparently if Anne works more than 24 hours in a week I'm not entitled to anything and if she doesn't work more than 24 hours I still can't get benefits because I earned too much for the tax year 2004-2005. They seem to have moving goal posts for people like me. Maybe I should emphasise my spinal problem and go on invalidity!!

I've got no problem with people coming into this country who want to work, BUT I have got a big problem with those that come over and then proceed to sponge of the state, espeically asylum seekers (did you know that they get more in payouts from the goverment than somebody who has lived in this country all their life even if they have never worked).

We as a country, are to soft.... simple as that.... and the goverment **** themselves if they say no because the EU will force them under the human rights act. If these people came over here and recieved nothing, then i'm sure most of them would bu**er off back to their own country or try somewhere else.

I think that a %age of the TAX (lets call it National Insurance) should be "banked" for each person, then when they are ill and go to doctors/hospital, this comes out of the "bank", and when you stop paying tax (unemployed/retirement) you are allowed to withdraw this money (at a capped rate).

Then when you run out, you run out. If you die before - the government keeps it.

Then people who contribute more (via tax) get to "take out" more. and those on BUPA get to not withdraw from this when ill. And people who pay for a 2nd pension get more cash on retirement.

I hear what you are all saying and agree there are major issues which need addressing but put in perspective we are very fortunate and a damn site better off in this country than a lot of the rest of the world.

I know i am quite fortunate to be one of the many tens of thousands of civil servants with good pay and benifits etc. (Cardiff Council is the largest employer in Cardiff with 18000 employees!!)

My mother was an immigrant although born in a British Colony (Cyprus) and thats probably the main issue which annoys people myself included but needs to be put in perspective for fear of branding all immigrants as spongers.

The answer though i believe is not to give up and migrate but to make a stand and put pressure on the government to sort out the priorities.

I'd like to think that in my limited role i am helping to make the area i was born and brought up in a better place to live but working for the government i am surrounded in ridiculous red tape and politcal correctness!

P.s. I doubt Mr Blair is limp wristed, have you seen his wife!!

And what sort of basic income would you need to survive over, say, 70????

Not everyboby is on £30K a year..... I wouldn't mind betting that the average wage is more like £13 - £18K a year, which is a lot less than depicted on the TV.

The average has crept to over £20k now ..

But when you are 70, you have no morguage / rent (hopefully) .. so your outgoings will be less.

I recon I could live on £10 a day, if I had no outgoings (apart from rent, petrol commuting, car insurance, phone bills) I recon I could now..

It's just my idea .. I'm not econimics expert (obviously - or I'd be minted).

Is this the UK as a whole or the UK as an area surrounding London? My wife's a teacher and she gets nothing like £30274.

Damn this is a "rolling thread"!

the 24700 is for the UK as a whole...

as for those figures - remember, this includes the london allowances - and those teachers Labour pays 6 figures too for 'running difficult schools'...

BLOOD PRESSURE DANGEROUSLY HIGH :ffs: :ffs:

i think its about time our tone got back to basics

the government is now the single biggest employer in the country

f .......: IDIOTS CREATING JOBS FOR MORE F......... IDIOTS

i see it everywhere i go five men putting bedding plants on a roundabout :ffs:

two men operating a skip wagon

2 men emptying a bin

there is no way that a private company could or would be able to operate financially like this

but it doesnt matter because we are all paying for it every week in taxes

lets make the uk a private business sack at least half of ALL civil servants and get tony and gordon out of our wallets

As far as i can see those figures are for the whole of the UK but will of course include extra loadings for certain areas and does not specify to what level this includes.

The document covered the whole of the UK and compared the UK average salaries with property prices around the UK but it did not go into detail about regional salaries which seems pointless in my opinion.

It did however give some overpaid civil servant something to do!!!

Yep lets all have a drink

I think we should have a business man in charge rather than some snotty nosed **** wipe that knows ubik all about how to live/survive, these people haven't lived in the real world so how can they be expected to run the country?

Re: the average wage idea - if it's that "high," what about people like me, who work hard, and don't earn near the average wage at all?

What is expected of us?

I've lost a lot of respect for this country. I have little trust in our government, I despise the monarchy, and am sick to death of the illegal immigrants who come over and sponge off the system....

id just like some fairness from this country. maybe a little equality. and i dont mean the thinly hidden rubbish theyre trying to claim is fairness and equality.

Its balance thats missing. good and bad are extremes.... both can lead to conflict and negative outcomes. i just want my country to be something in between. I dont think theres much of a chance of getting strippers, beer and other great things in a 'good' country.

somebody said it..........

'in my experience people with few vices have very few virtues'

i believe it
