  1. If it is at the dealers then they should be able to do the pdi in no more than two days. With both of mine and my dad's it never took longer than two days. If it is any longer someone is yanking your chain.

  2. I gave details of my space saver earlier, but I will repeat here with other relevant data. The car was supplied with summer tyres on 17" wheels - The tyres are 215/45 and the etyres calculator shows them as having an outside diameter (when new) of 24.62 inches or 625 mm. I bought winter tyres on 15 inch wheels in exactly the same size as Toyota supply as an alternative to the 17 inch wheels above. The tyres are 195/65 and the etyres calculator shows them as having an outside diameter (when new) of 24.98 inches or 634 mm. The spacesaver supplied with the car has a 135/80 tyre on a 16 inch steel wheel. The etyres calculator shows it as having an outside diameter (when new) of 24.5 inches or 622 mm. The normal recommendation when changing tyre size/profile etc is to keep within a tolerance of plus or minus 2.5%. The spacesaver is 1.93% smaller than the 15 inch set up and 0.48% smaller than the 17 inch setup. The numbers get closer with tyre wear. You could get closer to the 15 inch setup by going to a 135/85 tyre, but the one I have is near enough for me . . . . . .

  3. What mileage is you car? If you DPF (Diesel Particulate Firter) or Cat are pretty much clogged up I believe you can get all the above fault codes at some point or other. I was told and when you think about it it is pretty much logical that the above creates a sort of back pressure and unless you check and make sure those are OK, you can end up with unnecessary repairs of Turbo, MAF, etc.

  4. Does anyone know if the Toyota roof spoiler for the 2010 model comes unpainted or already colour coded?

  5. Std TTE spoilers come as a two pack in a grey primer. I was £180 to get local paintshop to paint them, removed original and fitted both new parts myself in 30mins - easy to do.

  8. Had me going there, Daz......thought I had logged on to a gay Rav site going by the title of your post......LOL! Have just put a mix of Michelin Pilots and Michelin Latitudes on wife's 3 door, and if road noise is a priority, these are incredibly quiet. Grip is also as good as the Goodyear Winter Tyres just taken off it. Yokos are also worth looking at. Big Kev

  9. See, now we have the full picture to my earlier post. You did not that say the car was in an accident in your original post, merely the airbag had been 'ripped out'. When a car is repaired the airbag should have been factored in. Was the car classed as a write-off? You also said that when your dad got another car and it did not drive like it was cared for, I would rather fix the faults and if it very similar to your car, used your car as spares if needed. Then I would have scrapped it. Right now your car is unusable until the airbag is re-instated. You cannot sell the car without disclosing the fault, as that would be dishonest. That includes getting through the MOT too. What if in future the MOT includes a diagnostic check for any faults then clears them to see if the faults repair again? Those existing faults that still come up after reset, if safety critical will fail the car. Then no rewiring the bulb will work. This is only a suppose ( I hope I have not given the authorities any ideas!). The airbag can be re-fitted safely, so long the car has been disconnected from the battery for a long period. Once plug bag in and the battery reconnected, the system will check all airbags are present and correct and hopefully that will turn the warning light off. Check with Toyota if a reset is necessary. It is up to you now.

  10. I was going to answer earlier, left bit to see what responses were to this thread. If I was buying a car, I would try to spot any possible faults and depending on that type of fault, decide to buy the car or walk away. If any warning lights show up, I would want to know why and get more information on remedy and cost. The airbag is missing having as you said 'ripped out'! That means to me that it has been deployed unless there has been another reason for it not being in place. We all know that airbags only came in recently so it should not make much differnce in general, but it is a safety feature. What is the history of the car. Was ever involved in an accident? Even before the MOT rules change, I would not have touched the car with that fault. If you do buy a replacement airbag, who ever is going to fit it must disconnect the battery and wait at least 10 minutes touching anything on the circuit. It should left to somebody who knows what their doing. I am not sure about the system resetting itself, but logic tells me that when fitted the light should go out - it did when I changed my leanburn sensor and also a hub when I broke the ABS wheel whilst doing the rear bearing. The bulb trick will not work if the tester is doing his/her job properly, so get the replacement arbag fitted for that MOT. I have said my piece. Konrad
