  1. Means its registered in the US as a rear marker light. It is probably designed to be used on the back of trailers or semi-trailers as our US friends would say. Made in China by the KL group.

  3. A small but select band. It's not our fault that Mr.T didn't make enough of them to satisfy demand.

  4. I had a Peugeot 406 estate diesel it had done 257,000 when i sold it only had 1 new clutch and a fuel pump obviously all the service parts over the years but. No rust!! A lovely car to drive. 64mpg amazing for a S reg. i only sold it because i have the iQ. There are some cars where the manufacturer gets it right. Where i worked, we had 4 fleet cars. 2 ford mondeo's and 2 vauxhall Astra's all bought new at the same time same. One. Of the mondeo's and one of the Astra's were complete '"dogs" not just starting etc but the handling was worlds apart from the "good ones" the Astra drunk oil, as much as a pint and a half every week and when taken in to vauxhalls, their answer was " its not a blue print engine sir, thats the tolerance of the build. " so i said " so if i bought 2 cars from you today, the chances are one would drink oil and the other would be fine? " "yes " he said. " but the two that drive completely differently" "thats the tolerance sir" that would suggest, That each car you buy will be unique and different to any other. Random build quality and alignment David

  6. I don't think they are meant to be comfortable as they are head restraints, designed to stop your head snapping back in a collision, rather than "headrests"

  7. My Fiat Bravo with a 1.6 TDI engine has 12 month and up to 21k miles service intervals. My annual mileage has dropped so I always hit the time rather than distance limit. The Octavia I had before that was on variable servicing with a 2 year/20k mile limit and that always went by distance first - it would warn me it needed doing at around 18k as I recall. As for the emissions control measures affecting MPG, you are spot on. The DPF is going to make for a less free flowing exhaust, and then uses extra fuel to burn off the soot, both of which will harm your fuel consumption. Whether that's a fair trade off for the cleaner air coming out of your tail pipe is open to debate.....

  9. I own at 54 Reg Avensis D4D T4 Hatchback. I believe it has a bit of a factory fitted TTE body kit on it. It has covered 155,000 miles. Tyres are 215/45/17 I always warm it up for around 5 mins in the mornings and do the same journey and mileage on a regular basis and always fill the tank up. I would say 80% is motorway mileage. I find that if I use BP Ultimate diesel I get around 465-475 miles on a full tank. Computer average reading around 48mpg. If I use Esso diesel, I get around 44mpg average Once I used Supermarket fuel and it did not suit my car at all, the numbers dipped badly. I wouldn't touch supermarket fuel ever again. Long motorway drives get me up to 55mpg average. I have had my car for 7 years and its never been below 42 mpg average. I get it serviced every 7,000 miles by a mechanic friend of mine. I do not use genuine Toyota bits for small servicing and have been using Blueprint filters. for the past 6 years. Over the 7 years I have had the following done: EGR Valve at 145,000 miles Starter Motor 145,000 miles Timing belt at 70,000 & 140,000 Long life coolant at 120,000 miles Oil, air, fuel, filter change every 7,000 miles No clutch or exhust issues. No rattle or vibrations anywhere. Cabin is very quiet and so is engine. Can't see why it won't do 300,000 miles if I continue to use it in the same sensible way I have been. The only issue I have had was with the air con. Once there was a major leak and Toyota failed to find it at 2 attempts and just kept changing pipes for no reason. Then I took it to an air con expert who found it within a few minutes. Also the compressor clutch had issues, that normally requires for the compressor to be replaced at £800. I managed to find another air con specialist who opened it up and fixed it for around £350 with 12 months warranty and thats with full air con system service and re-gas. Apart from anything that needs doing this car has only required the regular maintenance every year at around £75. The car has absolutely no resale value now. but the performance, interior and exterior condition would match anything that's even 5 years newer than it, so I wouldn't even think about changing it for a newer car.
