  1. I honestly think its less agg to just write the thing off and move on.. There is it seems some acrimony and as Don has said and I say it again we only have one side of the story not that I am the tiniest bit interested in either side... I have seen these silly things escalate into far more than the silly things arguments start over.. It become He/She said or did that and of course personal feelings run high and things get out of hand sometimes very fast.. Its your call I couldn't give a monkeys to be honest And I only gave my opinion as I don't want to see you on here in a week or tow telling us what hot water you are in with Plod or needing solicitors to sort it out.. Whether the key will fit or not I havent a clue.. Its the intent that makes people reply as we have.. Believe it or not we are trying to help not interfere.. This is after all an internet forum so opinions will be forthcoming warts and all.. It takes a bigger man to walk away without looking back.. So are you man enough ?

  2. Might still be worth asking your Toyota dealer about the whine.

  4. how strange how this post has attracted so much interest ? My initial question was would the grey key work and yet everyone seem to be interested in the moral dilemma. As it happens yes she does need the car and I did offer to sell it to her on a cheap monthly basis ( £50.00 ) but she took it on herself guided by her all single friends to actually nick the car. She is getting advice from all over the place not to give the car up. I have my own car and really do not need it but there again I am not fabulously wealthy to throw a grand in the bin. She moved back to London because she was unable to secure a job down here in Dorset and indeed I was sorry to see he go but totally understood why she left. However it is still my flipping car and I want either the car back or the money its as simple as that cheers dave

  5. The Block Exemption Regulation, where car manufacturers are no longer be able to make the car warranty conditional on having the oil changed, or other car services carried out, only in authorised garages, only applies to the new car warranty. Other warranties may require the car to be serviced by the appropriate dealer network - I know the Toyota extended warranty requires this (see http://www.toyota.co.uk/cgi-bin/toyota/bv/generic_editorial.jsp?navRoot=toyota_1024_root&fullwidth=true&noLeftMenu=true&forceText=&edname=Owners-Warranty-Extended&zone=Zone+Ownership&id=Owners-Warranty-Extended) , and I would presume the same applies to the Toyota Approved Car warranty. As it is a Toyota warranty, I would have thought the obvious people to ask about the warranty conditions would have been Toyota, rather than third parties.

  6. I like your style, we have similar tastes No way is Plod going to get involved, I would think the chance of you getting in hot water would be minimal, but do take sensible precautions..................keep your baseball bat out of sight Having worked in the motor trade all my life, we are always having gear nicked, when we have given Plod the names of culprits very little action is taken, Your only problem is you gave her permission to use the car Kingo

  7. Buy the card, put it in, it will work The SD cards do not need an additional licence, as Devon says, only the Touch and Go and systems with a Hard Disc Drive (HDD) need a licence Kingo

  8. I would start to ring round Breakers looking for a car that’s been cosmetically written off. (ie serious rear end shunt) With any luck you might be able to hear the engine running and/or examine the wreck and paperwork before the engine is removed. I have had some very good experiences lately buying parts for my VW Golf from. http://www.asm-autos.co.uk/ They have both cars they are breaking and a wide range of removed parts in their warehouse. Unfortunately no current RAV4's, however, they might have engines in stock. But as discussed above, I would ideally want to see the engine in the car before I bought it to gauge its history.

  9. I've upgraded the software on my Scion xB two times now, and each time it was just a matter of dropping in the new DVD. Of course, the SD card system on the newer systems may differ, but it seems odd to require a license.

  10. Why are you angry with the police? You have fallen out with your ex. You are both grown ups so sort it out between yourselves.

  11. Hello. Just a quick update, just got the car back and indeed no damage done by the belt breaking. Just had a new one fitted and im back on the road the car none the worse for the problem. God Bless Toyota's non interference engines. Thanks again to all who gave advice.

  14. Save yourself a bit of time and all those unnecessary turns of the screw. Place one of the old pads soft side towards the piston and then use the clamp. Oh don't forget to clean the face of the pistoon before retracting.
