  1. Any MOT station will do it. Don't forget to ask for a discount as many things like emission tests are excluded as unnecessary, so the test takes less time. My last one on a NHW20 was £28 from a specialist MOT only centre.

  2. I did drool over the Tesla, but the 200 mile range drops if you use heating/ventilation, and drive at 65 instead of 55 mph. The longer range model, with leather interior and a £3½k option pack that is needed for, amongst other things, fog lights, heated mirrors and power folding mirrors bumps the price up to well over 60k. And it still will 'only' do 240 miles on the sort of trip I do occasionally. As there are no heavy duty charging points up the east coast between Norfolk and the Hull area, I would need to spend 5-7 hours (or more!) charging during the day, if I could find somewhere to do so. This would make a day trip tedious, to say the least. In a few years, if there are lots of SuperCharge points, UK road trips would become quiet feasible. At least the Prius (or Lexus LX) can do the whole return journey on a single tank of unleaded.

  3. Could you not reach for a Tesla S? They start at £50k and you still get over 200 mile range for that. Maybe they'd do a deal? Go on :)

  4. Does that include any government grants?I'd suspect so, so its actually not a lot cheaper than any other car regarding the DTD discount thats included. Its actually a £4695 saving, not £11k, as PiP price according to Toyota UK website is currently £28395 cash.

  5. Found a better link http://www.drive2.ru/l/4812360/ Looks like it is a 15L tank !!!! 550 long by 200 Diameter 12L to fill it so that is £8 About 150 miles per tank That would just about do me for a week (Better than the current £25 I am putting in now !!) Although looking at some of the photos it looks like a 520/180-30L or a 520/200-34L would fit This would take the range to about 300 miles or about 350 I think the rear seats would have to go on spacer blocks. Maybe by about 30-50mm

  6. I had MTEC grooved discs with Ferodo Premier pads - worked very well. I also recommend getting the disks coated (I had black) for the few extra pounds as while it will wear off the disc swept area quickly it will keep the hub section looking good & rust free.

  7. Introduction As requested by a few members on this forum. This is our account on how we replaced the tailgate on my RAV4 to the version which has the spare wheel mounting option. Please understand that we are not mechanically trained, or qualified. So, any comments are welcome, especially if we have made any mistakes, missed anything important, or just require further info. Chapter One – Initial purchases Tools required/used : None Cost this chapter : £520 Cost to date : £520 From what we could establish, there are only three different types of tailgate. One with the option to mount the spare wheel, and two without. It is not possible to convert an existing tailgate, they are very different in design, externally, and internally, below the window. Tailgate : £300 – Second hand from internet auction website. Luckily, the same seller also had two other parts required, from the same vehicle. Wheel cover back : £40 Wheel cover front : £120 Delivery: £60 The parts were removed from a 2009 RAV. An important thing to remember when looking for a suitable tailgate, is that the main frontal area below the window, is made up from four separate plastic ‘garnish’ panels. These can be easily be damaged, especially after the tailgate has been removed from the vehicle.

  8. Chatman The process is exactly the same. In fact, shortly after doing mine I used my old one to fit to a 4.2. I just had to change the anchor plate that fixes to the door frame and that door now opens to about 80 degerees. Cheers That is brilliant Anchorman.Clear ,concise and takes the fear out of the exercise. To a none mechanical type even removing trim panels is is fraught with fears.A picture is worth a thousand words.Well done. :)
