  2. There I am complaining about the headlights on the Auris and the new 2015 model due out later this year apparently has led headlights, Yey! I bet it also includes rear heating ducts and Adaptive cruise control options too to compete with other EU manufacturers offerings. Its a pity the timing is just not right for me this time around.

  3. As I said I just happened to still have 2012 price list - actually from when I bought my current car. No interest in going back further. As regards the Prius price increase in 2010, whether Toyota sold the Prius prior to the Auris hybrid at a low price to encourage take up, we shall not know. It would obviously be a nonsense for any manufacturer to sell a larger, almost D segment sized car ( the Prius has the same size wheelbase as the Avensis) for less than their C segment offering.

  4. You've spent time finding these prices so why stop at 2012? Keep going back a year a two and see the massive leap from £17,500 for the base Prius in late 2009/early 2010. The large increase just happened to coincide when the Auris hybrid was released. Maybe they couldn't make the Auris HSD cost effective so had to bump up the Prius price, despite the latter having import duties? As others have said, other manufacturers now have reasonably economical vehicles for signficantly less than the hybrids with the benefit of cheaper parts too. At the other end, plug in hybrids from other manufacturers are around the same price as the t-spirit but with added tax and fuel economy benefits. Toyota need to be careful.

  5. VAG products also come with a lesser warranty (3years/60,000 miles), with exclusions after six months (seat and floor coverings, shock absorbers, etc).

  6. Yeah, pricing is a big put off in my book. The competition are now offering very good alternatives for less money per month which more than makes up for the increased fuel consumption with some left over and some of the alternatives are a lot more fun to drive too. There is a point at which the price is just too high despite the economy and whilst I am prepared to relinquish raw performance in a comfortable well appointed car, I am not prepared to do so at just any price.

  7. Its a nice looking car and I very nearly got one to replace my Prius which goes back in May. What put me off though was the lack of certain options that are readily available in the rest of Europe such as HID headlights & the JBL Stereo. I cant go back to Halogen after having LED lights! Also no option available for Adaptive cruise control and no heating to the rear seats either. With the options I could have my Auris TS would have cost £26.500 car and yet all these missing features that I wanted. I don't know why Toyota UK do what they do but they seem to think UK customers want or deserve less and that coupled with Toyotas fairly steep pricing on certain options just put me off. Toyota UK have a lot of catching up to do I think. When I looked at Seat and what they offered on their ST, the massive choice of colours and interiors, reasonably priced extras (£550.00 for Adaptive Cruise with the safety system, £350.00 for a 10 speaker sound system with sub woofer for example) I just could not justify getting an Auris which I would never be happy with and the Prius is just too expensive. I save £70.00 a month with Seat over the Prius and that buys quite a lot of petrol!

  8. Update. Fitted back seats ok & centre armrest. No power for seat adjustment? Need power to fit seats. Thinking getting battery & using this as a temporary power supply to fit seats & a just hight & rake etc., air bag squib & seatbelt buckle sensor are connected ok. Taking car to a auto electrician get permanent power fitted to seats Sent from my iPad using Toyota OC

  11. BTW it's not uncommon for a clutch to continue working for years with a noisy bearing, but similarly it might not.

  13. Like has already been said the gearbox has to be removed, i highly suggest you have all 3 parts of the clutch replaced and not just the clutch release bearing, so basically just get the price of a replacement clutch. Good luck, Mike.

  15. Out in the Yaris this weekend, I looked in the glove box, and there were all the manuals :) There wasn't much room for anything else in the glove box! I also noticed that the tyre pressure sticker has two values. 33/32 for normal tyres and 36/35 for ECO tyres.
