  1. Collect my new car today, unfortunately it is not a Toyota, as Toyota seems to have abandon the PHEV cars. I have gone for the next best option with all the toys that I would have liked to have on the Prius plug-in. The Mitsubishi Outlander 2016 model has been updated for the previous model, with mitusbishi listening to all the complaint from the older model owners, that does not happen very often. My wife drove it from the garage, she just loves, its very quiet even with the engine running and even with the temp at 8 degree today it started on battery and stayed on battery until it was discharged. On that it is time to say goodbye. Jim

  3. My 2nd generation hybrid effectively has "two" forward gears, 'D' and 'B', it is delivered by the continuously variable e-CVT by programming. They way I read it, this is just more programming by Toyota to give the illusion of a 6-speed sequential shift. I guess they must program a hold on the electric motor speed to simulate staying in a gear ratio, allowing the ICE to rev up through the rpm range, then letting the electric motor move up (or down) to the next hold speed for the next gear and so on. Clever stuff, but pointless IMO as it's not letting the ICE run at optimum efficiency.

  4. Got my new lock motors. Only difference is the shaft on the new motors is a round shaft about 20mm long and the original motor has a shaft with a flat about 10mm long. Easy job to hold it with a pair of pliers though, file a flat on then reduce the length to suit. New motor is now fitted and it's all back together but can't test it fully unless I take the door trim off the car again so I'll save that for another day. Took the OZ Racing wheels off on Saturday, pressure washed all under the arches and fitted the original wheels with the winter tyres on them all ready for the cold weather, just in time I think as this morning was pretty chilli. 5. The auris generally attracts criticism for fogging up windows etc, i have the hatchback and it's prone to it so i suppose the tourer maybe worse. Use the air conditioining more, it dries the air. Also overnight hit th "Off" button on the heater/vent controls and close down the air vents to prevent moisture laden air gettig drawn in. I believe the cabin filter schedule is every two years
