  1. I'm looking at buying a second-hand Auris Touring Sports hybrid (as a clean but economical replacement for my 2005 Octavia diesel estate). We only do about 5000 miles a year, and want to minimise our outlay. Would a high mileage one (100,000+) for £7-8k be a good buy (assuming good service history) ?

  2. Hi Saxo Yes they are made in Denmark so they should be good , but after reading a few negative reviews on eBay about parts damaging caliper and other faults I think I will go with the Toyota ones. The brakes are the one thing I don't want failing . Thanks

  3. Not always! if you research 'Bremtech' they are made in Denmark not china so are a reasonable alternative to dealer parts. Unless there is actual proof that these parts are inferior I would use them. The OP will decide

  4. You could always lodge £500,000 with the accountant general of the senior courts then you are insured to drive any vehicle you own. Road Traffic Act 1988 section 144. http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/52/part/VI/crossheading/compulsory-insurance-or-security-against-thirdparty-risks

  6. Quality and price is going hand in hand. Normally the rubber is a poor quality and cracks after ahort time. The pinds measures are often of specs. Sendt fra min SM-G920F med Tapatalk

  7. The DAB button is there for when the DAB module is fitted - the unit may not have DAB as standard.

  8. Hi Travensisember, Those parts look good. Nice that you found a cheap 28 pin connector. I wanted to buy an aftermarket camera, so I went for a pre built adaptor, but if you are comfortable repinning the 28 pin connector, that should be a good solution. Going by my guide I left pin 1 empty, but it's a while now since I did it, so my memory is slightly foggy :) If you are having trouble when all the parts come I can try to take apart my dashboard again to have a look. I don't have any experience with the factory camera upgrade, but it's good you've found the cabling. Nice not to have to run that again. Where is the last picture taken? It could be helpful for other people adding the factory reverse camera kit. Lastly, it looks like your original radio is different to my original radio. Mine didn't have DAB or the buttons along the bottom. Have you checked that it is a 20 pin connector? It's possible your radio doesn't have the same pinout as mine. If the colours are the same and they both of 20 and 8 pin connectors then you have the same pinout. If you are lucky, they changed to a 28 pin connector for your radio, and it will be plug and play :)

  9. Yossarian247 I had to explain explain in another post regarding Toyota engines and direct injection petrol engine - The 1.6 valvematic will be a another choice to the hybrid you are looking at - it must have been a private hire vehicle. Catlover's point about the engine doing less work - so long as it not all motorway journeys. Only wheel bearings will have 160k miles on them, brake less so. A battery health check would be useful. In a recent post on the Avensis site, used Vmatics seem to rare at the moment. I recommended that the poster also looks at the Auris Vmatic and hybrid (including the 1.33). If the car checks out, then it is a good buy.
