  1. Hey all, Thought I'd share my story with my SR180 and the fuel economy and power. I've posted a few thing on this forum over the years I've had the car. About the fuel econmy and power on how bad it was - I finally got off my **** and did something about it and put my hand in my wallet. I was literally getting 28-30mpg on average on the streets and I done a drive to heathrow last year, cruised at 70mph and got 39mph. Long story short, I needed to improve it as I would start doing 95miles a day back and fore to work so did the following things: Terraclean - £110 as its a 2.2 litre Cleaned out the EGR valve - actually followed the post on here, it was straight forward. DPF cleaner - Wynns brand I was very pleased with the results! On a good day I can get 60mpg out of the car on the motorway but I'm guarenteed 55mpg+ on the motorway. Street driving im getting a respectable 45mpg The turbo lag and power has also improved greatly!!! Hell of a difference. Being completly honest, Im only getting these figures on the motorway by doing 55-60mph and not throwing the car everywhere, and driving with my pedal to the metal everywhere , but just wanted to post this as im very pleased with the results as I never ever thought the car could reach those types of figures. Here are some pictures of how dirty the EGR valve was. Even though the above things helped, it definitely takes driving like a learner as well - If you can like that, enjoy starting to save some money and fueling up less often

  2. Hi konrad Thanks for your reply , ya it's due a service in a couple of weeks so will get it checked then . It doesn't sound to bad when it cleared by itself and it has not come back since . I think the puddles did not help it like you said . Thank God it's gone as I had nightmares of an actuator problem , the dreaded bill all avensis owners have !! Cheers again

  4. Even better.. !! The leads have turned up [in a disconcertingly humongous box] only to fall out with a Dizz cap included... I will return the loose cap I ordered for full refund. WTG Amazon 😀 2sav

  6. If the clutch is not slipping it could be just the pressure plate. But obviously you would replace all. As others have said probably need to do the dmf too economically.

  7. I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this. (Modulator please feel free to move it to where ever you think is appropriate). But just a reminder for fellow drivers to be aware of these thugs operating in public car parks. I almost fell victim to them but luckily they thought they had bigger fish to fry. What happened was, I parked my Yaris at my local supermarket carpark at around 7pm after work, spent half an hour shopping and went back to my car. When I tried to move off, my steering wheel felt very sticky and there was some strange sound coming from my right front wheel. I pulled off immediately and found that the tyre was completely inflated, I was really surprised as it was perfectly find all day with any abnormal sign. At this point, I could not see any sharp object sticking to the tyre at all but the dust cap of the valve and it looked a bit loose. 'Immediately', a 'good Samaritan' in a silver car stopped by and offered help. He claimed he works for a garage and he could check the tyre for me. I told him that I've got the tools and spare tyre that I could manage, but he insisted to help. He went over to check for punctures (obviously nothing), and before I pulled out my pump, he already had his from his boot. He tried to inflate the tyre but couldn't, claiming that the valve is faulty. At this stage, I still insisted that I would simply put on the spare and would take care of it later, or call AA. He then offered to have fixed but I refused. He did helped me to put the spare on but he kept on insisting that it was not safe to use the spare wheel (what the heck!). He miserably drove off at this point, and I was lucky that he actually let me off. Thankfully he was a one man band and not a band of thugs, otherwise I would not be able to take off that easily. But I guess by the time when he saw all the tools in my boot that he realised that it would not be an easy target to him. When I got back to my garage, I found out that this low life actually loosen the valve stem, that was why when I tried inflating it the air did not hold. I am not sure if this is a new type of scam but if it happens to my girlfriend or old couples, this man would have been successful. Just wonder if anyone has experienced anything similar.
