  1. Good afternoon everyone, This is my first post! I currently work on a Product & Design team at Toyota and we're currently working on some new products and features. It would be really great to have actual customer input into these features and so we have a survey here which should only take about 2 minutes of your time: Toyota fuel consumption survey Many thanks in advance! 2. I had a similar issue recently with my Mk1 Yaris T-Sport. My back box was blowing and the middle section wasn't far off giving up the ghost so I ended up getting a stainless steel custom exhaust made. I stated right from the off that I wanted it to sound and look as OEM as possible & it does and for £350 it was a fraction of the price of main dealers.

  5. Gotcha! fordulike. Nice tip 😁 Many thanks. I dug out the old fob and sure enough buried in a corner is a small black block. Clearly a transponder. Fitted into new key fob and Bingo! Works fine.

  6. This usually happens to all automatic cars, and especially when you park the car on slop/ gradient place. To stop making the noise and prolong the life of the P lock mechanism I can recommend you the following procedure: After you park the car and still depressing the brake pedal put the car in N than apply the hand (parking) brake, release the brake pedal while you in N with parking brake applied and let the car settle than press the P parking button. You may get the thump noise again only if you haven’t pressed the brake pedal properly and while you are selecting a gear the car try to move immediately. Try my way and see if make any changes.

  7. I can't help at all, and I do sympathise. Is there something special/different with a 2007 1.8SR exhaust system? Would an exhaust from a different spec actually fit? I'd be sorely tempted to do some research across the range. Could the front section not be removed and repaired properly? Mick.

  8. As Frosty says you have rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, don't let them talk you out of them.

  9. As stated it is not a requirement of the MOT and my mot testers have not checked mine since the new rules. However, if they are checking your spare they are really doing you a big favour - if you did have to fit the spare when on the road, you could have lots of problems if your spares tread was too low or damaged. eg police check or accident/insurance etc Also when having a recent mot, they found a new deep cut in the tread of one of my tyres which I had not seen, and because I had a good spare they let me change it over there and then as they still had a few minutes of the test left, if it did not have good tread it would have been a failure and back for another visit with a new tyre the following day.

  10. If anyone is remotely interested, this is the panel in Techstream that caused the issue above:- If you change 'Auto Entry Cancel SW', it seems to turn off the keyless door opening. ***But***, also the keyless ignition function. This display above is how it should be set for the car to operate normally, if you set it to 'ON', then the car doesn't recognise the wireless key. If you are not expecting this to happen, it is more than annoying.

  11. Toyota decided to stop the Avensis because of low sales volumes. Although there is no direct replacement, the Corolla saloon/estate and the Prius (each of which have the same wheelbase as the Avensis - 2700mm), and the Camry are the Toyota models which are indirect replacements.

  12. A few things come to mind initially: 1. Brake disc cover rubbing on a front disc 2. Air in take loose or air filter not fitted in properly 3. Turbo wining (it has one) - does it disappear if you go above 5000 Revs or get worse?
