  1. A prime example: JLR Oil Filter say £30 Renault Oil Filter £10 Made in same factory, same code just one printed with Land Rover on it. Jemca have lost me as a customer, but more importantly now as a trade customer to, probably only £100k But other dealers seem very keen for our custom, it will mean a journey to service them but we do not get the feel we are being shafted & laughed at..

  2. I have done 300 miles since delivery and getting 46 mph and the fuel tank is now 1/2 empty after starting with a full tank on leaving the dealer. I'm in normal mode and aircon is always on. Getting eco scores of 85/90 on my journeys. Being the Design version the wheels are 17inch and tyre pressures are 34 psi front and 32 psi rear. It really is all about the right foot and reading the road ahead. I keep to the speed limits. Eco icon is on a lot and battery charge is showing close to full.most of the time. Enormous power reserve with the 2.0 lltre engine so I'm only feathering the throttle most of the time. It really is a fantastic car. Just watch that right foot.

  3. 3 days and 300 miles in on a new 2.0 Design Tourer, a few heavy accelerations, keeping within 5mph of speed limits, 100ish mway miles, the rest 50/60/70 mph A roads and some town driving and I’m at 52mpg on the display. I've been using the LTA and dynamic cruise a lot but don’t find the cruise quite as economical as it doesn’t read the road as well as a human.

  5. Well a little more information on the Carina E 2L It's had 2 previous owners, making me the 3rd, and has 73,333 miles on it, with a lot of service history. It starts and stops and almost goes around corners, almost. I would like to keep it, and have a fleet of Carina E's, but I think I will stick to my guns, and pinch the bumpers, and turn it around. I think the engine is the 3S-FE, which isn't really what I want, but it's very smooth. I will clean it all up, and give it some long over due wax, and the odd touch up, and will obviously film it all for you lol.

  6. Okay, seems I’m in line for the golden spanner award! The Corolla has two USB ports... I found the one under dash today having been in the car for the first time in daylight! Thank you all for your ideas 👌👍

  7. Thanks, I have had all the stickers re-cut, as things get worse, and I now have a spare car to get a few bits right on mine, so roll on the warm weather 😄

  8. I saw the WLTP figure of 131 g/km quoted in this week's auto car test .

  9. Rather than start a new thread, I thought I'd bump this one.... There is now an ongoing legal case in the USA regarding the issue of not being able to completely fill the car up. I wonder if this is the same issue that has caused some owners to experience low range in their cars? https://www.carcomplaints.com/news/2020/2019-2020-toyota-rav4-hybrid-fuel-tank-issue-lawsuit.shtml

  10. I never saw the 2.0ltr advertised as achieving 65 mpg, 1.8 ltr maybe. At the moment I am achieving around 48 mpg, in a mild spell 52 mpg, and last summer 55 mpg. I do little nose to tail driving, just a bit, mostly rural roads with 50 speed limit. What I have found is don't use the Eco setting at all, unless you are in a city. Using the Eco setting on trunk roads will eat your fuel. Try using Normal mode only. Also you say you heat to 22 degrees. That will be using much more fuel, with the engine needing to fire up to keep your water hot. I drive at 19 degrees, frosty mornings I treat myself to 20. If you need 22 degrees, that's fine, but just like at home, with a hybrid, you have to pay for having the heating on. It does make a difference, just sit on the drive when the engine has warmed up and shut down, then turn the heating up, the engine will fire up again. As others said, the engine is also new which might reduce mpg for a while, but you also have to get used to cold temperatures reducing battery efficiency, so on cold days, you will get less mpg. With Hybrid, you notice mpg changes far more than with an ICE only car. That said, your mpg is low, so if you are not putting your pedal to the metal at every opportunity, and not driving everywhere in Eco mode, it is definitely worth having a word with the dealer, in case the hybrid computer is doing something odd.

  11. I bought some software that can back up dvds to an MPEG format (I think MPEG anyway). I Do a lot of miles and like to use it to listen to programs I’ve seen 100’s of times so I can just picture it while I listen. Older bbc comedies, the old Top Gear specials, stuff like that. Makes sitting in the car for a few hours just fly by. also it’s great for when your sat waiting somewhere for the mrs Doing whatever and taking ages. I agree that the standard sound system is actually pretty good. Way better than I was expecting. Was using a brand new Hilux for work for a few months and the standard sound system in that was terrible, and I was concerned it was a generic Toyota system. So pleased the Ravs is better

  12. I bet the safety latch located under the bonnet is corroded so it does not move freely (the spring is unable to push it back to its lock position) so basically the latch stays constantly open. When I bought my avensis I have noticed mine did the same. Had to clean, lubricate and make it move a lot to make it move nicely. Having said that, that still does not explain how the main lock (located on chassis) did let go of the bonnet. Glad to hear nobody got injured.

  13. It depends on how good you are at 'sourcing' videos. Not had any issue with avi or mkv format content. Issues are there is a scroll bar that can pop up but it doesn't work so difficult to jump to a place in the movie, you can fast forward though like you can a music track. One interesting thing is how good some movies sound in the car, the standard sound system is reallypretty good! and you can have it as loud as you like 😉

  15. I'm having a total 'mare sourcing a factory 'bootlip' wing for mine, m8. The 2.0L is regarded a bit iffy for serious revving.... A long legged loper + ideally on an Auto (see: Camry). You can't save em all..... 2sav

  16. Dealers need to make money and like with any manufacturers there are good and bad ones. My local dealer service department is very good and I find that prices from non-Toyota garages are not that lower. However, when I was changing the front brakes on my Prius 2 years ago, they wanted around 300£ to fit them. Went to the parts department and got the full set of front brakes (same part numbers) for 90£ and fitted by local garage for 70£. Wiper blades are also cheaper than elsewhere and good quality (original Toyota / Lexus parts). It is just a matter of finding the Toyota dealer you can trust. Agree with FROSTYBALLS that service parts are not the same as used in the factory, but are the similar quality. And whenever I bought parts from Toyota I never been told that they have expensive and cheap parts, one part number = one product choice
