  2. The wonders of modern technology. Fitted a choke at either end of the rear camera cable and problem solved. I suspect the differences that are being experienced are down to varying signal strengths around the country as DAB Is either good or bad with no gradual deterioration like FM.

  3. It was a little difficult to reach one of the bolts. But it went ok, did not need to remove engine mount.

  4. My cable to the rear camera goes down the driver's side above the doors then though grubber duct to the tailgate without any issues of with dab or satnav.

  5. I have an Excel TS with Nextbase 522GW + rear camera hardwired to fusebox under the glove box using the 12v outlet fuse. The rear camera cable runs down the right hand side of the car above doors into and into the tailgate via the right hand rubber duct then to the camera fitted to the top centre of the rear window. Dab and FM are almost unusable unless in very good signal areas unless I disconnect the rear camera at the main unit. I am in the process of fitting ferrite chokes to the rear camera cable but have not been out for a test drive yet. I’ll report back with progress soon.

  6. An interesting question! I would have expected the way the engine is used in the plug-in gen1 to make the EGR problem less likely or the same as the normal Prius, depending how much use you're making of its (rather limited) electric range. But I don't know how the plug-in gen1 fits in with the warm up cycle description listed in this thread:-https://priuschat.com/threads/the-five-stages-of-prius-hybrid-operation.12919/ The EGR carbon build-up is not something I've spent any time considering, but my idea seemed logical. The EGR gases in the Prius are not different to any other petrol engine, why do they seem prone to sooting up the pipes? It would be good to hear other ideas....

  8. I had the Nextbase 380GWX + rear cam bundle fitted by the dealer (hardwired). No problems with interference etc and a pretty high quality image. I've messed about and downloaded a couple of clips via wifi hotspot to my phone in-car but it's far easier and quicker to remove the micro SD card and load straight to computer. As it was fitted after the PDI but before collection I had various footage from inside the workshop and when it was moved to the collection bay😀

  9. I also have the Nextbase 422GW with rear camera add on. Fitted by Toyota dealer and hardwired into the system I know not where. No problem at all with it interfering with other equipment in the vehicle. A very good dashcam too.

  11. Hi i have a front and rear dashcam fitted to my Corolla hatchback and i have no problem with the dab radio or satnav signals. The dashcam is a Nextbase 422GW and a nextbase rear camera. The front camera is hardwired to the fusebox under the glovebox using the 12v power socket fuse and the rear camera is powered by the front camera. I did try a Blackvue dashcam but i had problems with the camera taking 10 to 15 minutes for the camera start recording. Which Blackvue said it was a common problem with hybrid.

  12. Yes, that is the switching valve for the swirl actuator. Check resistance is 33-39 Ohms. With battery voltage applied the valve will open and there should be passage of air between the two vacuum ports. With no voltage applied then air will not pass between the ports. With vacuum applied to the swirl valve actuator (on inlet manifold) you should see/feel the operating rod being pulled. Start engine and put in 'P'. Operate the throttle. Solenoid should open and close according to engine speed and throttle position as below..

  13. On Wednesday, My Toyota status started showing "In Transit"! The car is built, has left the factory and is in post-manufacture inspections, tests, checks, etc before heading out from Burnaston on a transporter to Bracknell. Yesterday I was at the dealer signing various paperworks including the DVLA paper to confirm registration details. Once the car arrives the dealer will fit some accessories I ordered so things look like they could be on track for me to pick up the car within the next week. Excitement building! 😊

  15. Fitted cross climates to my 2016 Prius Excel. I like them, car handles well though I do get the impression they are a bit noisier & fuel consumption went up slightly. They are wearing well so if they do last longer they probably work out as cheap if not cheaper than budget tyres. Never tried them in snowy conditions because it didn’t snow last Winter so I can’t say how they would perform. Hope this helps
