  1. See? That's the problem with reliable engines - I don't spend any time fixing them so learn very little about them.

  2. I think a point that has been made several times is the registered keeper is not necessarily the owner of the car... If you have a receipt for the car or a bill of sale that suggests YOU paid for it OR maybe a bank statement in your name and not in joint names that says you paid for the car then you have a good claim to the car.. However if you have none of the above then be careful as you Ex may say it was her or your joint funds that paid for the car... My daughter is a lawyer and is sat here beside me... She says just arriving and driving the car away could land you in very deep water far deeper that a grand is worth if you just take the car with no warning.. Basically you must have proof that it was your money and your money alone that paid for the car.. Even then there is the complexity of splitting assets .. Consider also that the bill may see you as a big bad angry person and your Ex as the wounded party if you just snatch the car and a complaint is lodged.. Me ? Well as unhappy as I may be I would just write the !Removed! thing off and move on.... Whatever happens do not get into litigation.. My nippers time is billed at £235 an hour.. You dont want to be needing to seek legal advice at those silly rates...

  4. To all RAV4 owners who have posted responses; Hopefully the intermittant starter problem has now been resolved as this morning I had the starter motor solenoid stripped down and it was indeed the copper contacts which were badly arced and well worn, these were subsequently replaced at a cost of £12 (!) and, "touch wood" all appears to be fine now, this fault apparently is very common with the RAV4 starter motor solenoid and certainly is far more cost effective than an original replacement starter motor in the region of £245!! Many thanks to everyone who sent in their responses and suggestions, particularly "Chris" from Yorkshire. Regards to all Steve

  5. Back in the days where I was a Cardboard Box Expert (CBE), one had to be a Philadelphia Lawyer to opt out of the company car scheme. Mileage to and from the office was not tax allowable, mileage records and fuel receipts to prove had to be kept....an absolute PINTA..... Charlie.....best company car available in you emissions / cost bracket IMHO is the VW Passat. Speaking as an ex employer type, no way would I be financing a Rav 4.4, by your own admission a thirsty gubber at the best of times, min. Big Kev

  7. I think There is no need for a licence all you need is a Updated SD card map which can be purchased directly through the link quoted above. Only cars with Touch & Go or HDD navigation need licences at £140 to install the free navigation software.

  8. You cannot re-map a Denso pump, the only way forward is to fit a chip kit There are decent chip kits out there, ours being one, but anything from the Far East / China WILL be sh*te! Kingo Are you from China then......?
