  1. When I first worked for a Toyota dealer in 1976, our warranty audit book was about one page per year. You must remember though that we were selling about 100 cars a year. That is now ten fold and so are the claim levels, however in terms of percentages, they are MORE reliable now than they ever were. it's just the numbers are a lot more By their own admission, they took their eye off the ball in terms of quality, but since accelerator pedalgate, Toyota have been far more pro-active in seeking out possible faults and recalling cars as required, they are happy to do this with their policy of putting things right, other manufacturers choose not to be so open Kingo

  3. Mrs Pogle has bgeen sniffing round assorted vehicles for a while. She has finished up with a 2010 petrol xtr 2wd that I am picking up tomorrow. Most things I have read suggest it is a good choice and a good long term prospect as it wont do huge miles. Fingers crossed!

  4. There is a reason that people go into Toyota Showrooms and buy an iQ and not an Aygo, and that will often have been because the iQ had the ample space in the front for a driver and a passenger, & ease of access/exit being important. So the Aygo has its customers and the iQ had its. Is the new Aygo to have more space, because if not there are other small City Cars that do, Not any that can match an IQ, that i can think of though. Aygo being a cheap Toyota IMO and the iQ, even the cheapest model is light years ahead of them.

  5. The recall checker an the Toyota UK website is up to date for every thing except the info for Rav4, your profile shows you have a MK1 Yaris ? these are not included in the latest recall only MK2 Yaris are included at present, the difference in dates comes from the fact that the information released is for all the MK2 Yaris world wide, in other markets the MK2 was launched earlier than in the UK where the MK1 was still on sale, do not rely on the press to give you accurate info, they over hype and over generalise the info to make a bigger story than actually exists.

  9. This was asked in another post, but as it was off-topic I decided to start a new thread. I could not find videos that show RHD vehicles, but the procedure is almost the same, more or less a mirror image. I can only vouch for the Gen II as that is what I have and have changed the filter on that. For the Gen II look at this video: Change cabin filter - Prius Gen II The only major difference I can see (apart from the glove box location ;)), is that the dampener connector is on the left side of the glovebox door. Pretty much a mirror image. Here is a video for the Gen III: Change cabin filter - Gen III: As I said I can't say what the differences will be for a RHD Prius, but I'm sure those that know will chip in. As you can see, the overall procedure is almost the same for both generations and is very easy for the owner to do themselves. For the cost of a replacement filter, you can save quite a bit doing it yourselves and it is so easy. After the first time, you can probably do it in 2 mins flat. Hope that helps.

  10. Thanks Kingo. That's reassuring. I didn't want my iq to go to hospital !

  11. Toyota expect the new Aygo, available mid 2014 with much higher specifications to fill gap the and to increase sales far higher than IQ achieved

  12. Thanks Craig, my partner has a "Rock" UP and it is a good car (I'd better say that!). It has a funky finish with Rock UP decals and very nice alloys and great visibility. The whole car feels solid but the bits I'm not too keen on are the overall shape, the seats, higher road noise than the IQ and the engine seems to struggle at times. I now have an IQ3 and the UP certainly lacks the extra details and controls that the 3 has - plus of course the extra welly of a 1.3 engine!

  13. I actually noticed today that the VW Up! Is the same as Skoda's version of their Citigo. The Citigo does look sporter too. I've grown on VW's Up! And quite like it apart from the tailgate. There is a few cars like this that have went down the IQ route but I can't think of anyone who's came on top of the IQ as of yet.

  14. The Volkswagen Up seems very popular but that's part of it's problem, too popular. I love the iQ as it's sometimes weeks between me seeing another one on the road. I've never driven an UP either so not sure what the interior finish is like. It's hard trying to think of a good alternative, the iQ does everything I want in a fantastically well engineered and quality way. I'll be sticking with mine for a few years yet. :) Ford KA maybe? I've only been in the first generation ones of those and boy did they feel cheap and nasty in there! Craig.

  15. Could do with a place to move them to. Then the 'conversation' could carry on if members prefered. That way everyone's happy :)

  16. Not all mine, other ones are from friends or costumers. I do that because I love to modify cars well and paying attention to details :)

  17. The Aygo Manual & MMT DO NOT share the same clutch Manual: Cover 31210-0H030 Disc 31250-0H030 Bearing 31230-0H010 type A 31230-52040 type B MMT: Cover set 31250-79055 ( Disc and cover as a matched set ) Bearing as per manual. If the part has gone a back order ask your dealer to Contact Toyota customer relations on your behalf and request a hire car for the duration of the delay, if you dealer is less than forthcoming contact Customer relations on 01737 367600 or customer.relations@tgb.toyota,co.uk and request a hire car and point out the dealers lack of assistance. If you really want, point out that as the dealer cannot complete your car in the time scale agreed they are in breech of contract and that you want the car back in the condition it was presented at no cost to yourself and take the car elsewhere, this may just prompt the dealer to find a car for you use whilst the parts are delayed. Try the Customer relations path first though as the above is the last resort.

  18. Never mind, it's done and it was quite easy, heads up though for this model of car euro car parts don't supply the correct belt, it's too large so look elsewhere, Cheers Phil

  22. Frosyballs, The review I have posted is a very honest review based on my experience of my car and of many other 1.6 Versos that were for sale that I took the time to examine and test drive after I started having issues with mine. They all showed the same characteristics and similar failings, so it was not just limited to mine. I have possibly carried out a far more detailed comparison of many Verso's than most people as I just couldn't believe the issues I was having. I followed your Honest John thread and read the reviews (there appear to be 5 of them). It was interesting that one reviewer had to have the radio display changed (likewise), the leather steering wheel peeled and had to be changed (likewise), missed these off my list! Yes it did not live up to my expectations, but I feel it is important for people to read my experience as there appear to be very few reviews that identify the problems with this model, but then again some people will put up with anything.
