Just in case anyone with a 2012 model Prius is interested - Toyota have released a free map and software update to download via the Toyota Touch & Go PC App. Software update takes us from v1.7.3 to v1.7.4 (no change log so I can't tell you what's new yet) and is quite small in size. Map update is for whole of Western Europe and weighs in at a chunky 4.1Gb With T&G systems Toyota include 3 yrs of free map updates - it's nice to see one so soon :)

Same thing - ESP is the generic industry term, VSC is what Toyota calls theirs

Just double check you haven't pressed the window lock switch on the drivers door, this disables the operation of all the other windows

But why should I have to pay £2k extra for a car with it as standard when I can drive a car just as well without it, and save £2k. If you think you'll need it then cough up and pay - thats my to the point view anyway.

Automated full beam? Nah sounds a nightmare on winding country roads or even in town. You're waiting at a junction and some tw*t comes down the road with full beam on as their car hasn't detected you. Load of cobblers. These things would be great if they worked right but automated wipers are an example of this sort of thing that is an almost unworkable gimmick.

No manufacturer is going to introduce additional technology into their cars without the consumer paying for it in some way. The cost either gets added to the list price, and thus becomes hidden, or the new tech is made available as an option. Either way the consumer still pays.

Welcome Bruce. First tip is to watch the oil level in the engine! Unlike my old 7A-FE engine, some of the vvti engines can burn oil. If you do weekly checks then you will be okay. Enjoy the car and post some photos of the car. Konrad

does it when sat at sixty, but saying that we came back from Horncastle an I was on an off the gas due to back roads an it still managed to do it twice, its so irregular you cant pin point it to a certain pattern, when we had laptop plugged in we went from Donny to goole to blyth, idid half a tank a derv that night, an it played up after 2mls at sixty,then it went ok for 10mls, then it went ok for 6mls, I found if I dipped clutch an revved it, it coughed abit then kicked in again , let clutch out an off ya went , but now it doesent always do that now, tonight I came down A1 from A639 at ponty to A635 Barnsley rd turn off cant be more than 8 mls did it twice pulled up at round about revved it sem,t ok pulled off, nowt ther then in a split second ya off like a rocket, I will try fuel cap tmoz, an wat is egr valve please, thanks for the replies neil

I too wish that you could get/download Uk only. Just think of all the people (over)paying for all the data for countries that they will never visit in their cars ...

I still have not got round to doing the map update yet. I have been busy on more important things. The update does not seem to be worth doing if it is only for Finland. I wish you could just download the map updates applicable to UK only. Due to the fact we cannot do this that is " the Finn of the wedge!!"

Perfectly normal in cold weather especially if you have AC or Heater on as the cars priority is: 1. To get the engine up to temp as soon as possible 2. Give you the heat/AC you are wanting.

One is here............PM Kingo, I like it, it has a certain ring to it :D: Manufacturers make engines that go into cars worldwide, they build in huge tolerences so they can be used in all sorts of places, cold / hot spec countries, altitude etc, thats why your engine is not tuned to its peak.
