  1. in that case you will have to try a breakers yard or type in ebay breaking avensis or avensis parts and then look for a vermont then just message the seller asking what you need.

  2. I was doing a service on my iQ3 a few weeks ago and while I was in there I noticed the drive belt to the alternator looked a bit worse for wear. I spoke to my local main dealer and got both the air conditioning compressor drive belt and the alternator drive belt for only £30 and last weekend I had a go at fitting them. Not a difficult job really, jack the car up, remove the right hand wheel, remove the plastic panel from the back of the wheel arch and work from there. Once the belts are off remember to clean the pulleys and make sure they are not damaged. The damage to the belt was interesting though. The air con belt was fine really but as it has to be removed before the alternator belt can be removed it made sense to just change them both. What had caused the problems with the alternator belt was small stones in the pulley grooves and embedded in the belt itself. The belts are very low on the engine and sit just a few inches behind the front wheel so I guess some debris getting into the belt isn't a surprise but it's well worth opening the bonnet occasionally and taking a glance at them to see what they look like. A stone stuck in the belt can be clearly seen in one of the photos below and a hole right through the belt made by a stone can be seen in another image. The part numbers on the bags are for my iQ3 but there is a different belts for different models so check with the dealer first if you plan to order some. Craig.

  3. IF you currently have 4 center caps, why not rub them down, spray them silver, put a sticker on them and laquer them?

  4. measure the diameter of the centre cap/clips. Go on ebay, type in Toyota centre cap xxmm (where xx is what you measured), hit search ...

  7. There will be a substantial additional cost if you go to the Dealership. The price of the original parts would cover much of the labour costs charged by a reputable garage. If you're needing a local recommedation talk to a taxi driver. At the mileage you've driven the car can't justify the expense which would be for sentimental reasons only. Also, the dealer would only try to confince you that the fly wheel needs changing too!

  8. I agree the footage is good, I'd consider one but for the time date thing, either way the clear recording makes viewing easy so I'll defend the Rover a little. He's heading for M62East (like you), it's dark and it's wet and it seems a fairly complicated junction (the whole thing), he's in the correct lane right up until your local knowledge at 1:28 allows you to make the right to left lane change on the roundabout as soon as it becomes available. There's nothing (other than the fact the right hand lane fans out into 2) to tell a stranger that a move to the left should have be made at that point. However, he does miss the sign at 1:31. Despite your earlier swiftness and confident lane positioning, you continue on his rear left flank perhaps with a suspicion that he may well be looking for M62East? He should have seen the sign at 1:31 and I won't defend his sudden move from right to left (albeit with a signal) when he sees the M62 slip but I can sympathise (especially if he was stranger to the junction) with his predicament and to be fair, you didn't have to take any extreme evasive action.......... I'm impressed by the camera though.

  10. Easily done at home. Search ebay.co.uk for Toyota TIS. Newest version available now is 9.30.029. When you get that, connect it to the car and enter mmt ecu. Go to utility, choose parts exchange. Press a couple of next's, then choose step 1 - next. Clutch actuator will whine very very muffled from engine bay for a few secs, then go quiet. When quiet, shut off ignition. Change clutch, just as you would on any other car - just be VERY CAREFULL!!!! when tightening the springloaded plate on the clutch. All 6 screws should go in very evenly not to engage the clutch auto adjustment - if that happens the clutch is scrap. Dont worry, i've never done it once, but my mate has once so its fairly easy to avoid when using common sense. Ignition on, reconnect toyota tis, enter parts exchange again. Choose step 3 and next. Choose ECU exchange. This will force ecu to relearn clutch and gearpositions. This step will quite possibly finish normally, but fail without notification. This usually take quite some tries. You know it failed when you start the car, and you put the gear lever in a gear, and the neutral "N" just blinks in the dash. Then do step 3 again. Keep trying until it works. Can take as long as half an hour. Certified toyota tech of 10 years :) Hope this helps
