  1. Ok two threads in one here :) Foot operated parking brake - after a while it becomes second nature just like pulling a hand brake does. In fact - I keep finding my left foot looking for the pedal when I'm driving a car without it :) Sent from my iPad using Toyota OC

  3. If it's warm outside it automatically switches to recirc mode to aid quicker cooling inside. To test my theory turn the heat up, the recirc should switch itself off.

  5. Yes I did say using the Eco button temporarily disables the stop/start function - the system resets when the ignition is turned off.To restart the engine after the stop function has operated, one should fully depress the clutch pedal, select first gear and the engine restarts straight away. If you're doing something different, you're not operating the feature correctly. If the engine doesn't restart after fully depressing the clutch pedal and selecting first, there could well be a fault with the car. The owners manual explains the parameters the stop/start system operates within. Since 2009, I've had two Auris 1.33's with the same system, had no issues with the stop/start system, found car to be more economical than my previous 1.4 Corolla and found the Auris to be more relaxing to drive in city traffic

  6. I did post a warning to 4.3 owners some time ago but can I find it! The solution is easy - as bothy says its just lubrication. When you close the door you push it onto a spring loaded catch and when you release it the door needs to be free in order for the weak spring to just flirt the door open far enough to just get your fingers behind it. Clare As somebody has said, you need to get the catch propped open then carefully coax the door open with a screwdriver as you have been doing. In this photo the spring that pushes the door open is indicated by the yellow arrow, the catch by the green arrow and the points you need to lubricate by the blue arrow. Get some kitchen roll to stop the WD40 running down the body and apply a small amount to the top of the hinge; Then the bottom; Then just work the door back and too - it will quickly free up. It should be absolutely free with no resistance. For anyone else with a 4.3 can I suggest you do the same before it causes a problem. You can guarantee it will stick when it is howling a gale, the garage is queuing up with impatient customers and you are in a huge rush!
