  1. Hi all I have decided to replace my original Heads up display i designed. And installed in the satnav cover about 2 years ago. I got the new one as a xmas present that i requested and have now installed it. The original one ran off the OBD2 socket but this one is GPS so runs off 12v. It gives Real time, temperature, speed alerts, speed indication. Number of satellites, etc Here some pics of the installation. Sorry they are on their side. Uploading has a mind of its own. If anyone knows where i can get some 1mm thick smoked/tinted perspex/acetate please let me know. Its coverered in clear at the moment but prefere tinted. Nearly forgot the unit costs around £32 David

  3. I take it you’ve tried new batteries in both of your keys and that you’re not leaving your keys near any source like TV Box, mobile phone recharger, lamps with energy saving light bulbs etc that might weaken the battery overnight. Do the door lock actuators make a noise when you try to remotely unlock ie as if they are trying to unlock? Does the dome (interior) light work when you open the doors after unlocking? There’s numerous threads about the Avensis central locking system if you look in the search box at the top of the page. eg http://www.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/topic/112455-central-locking-problem/

Possibly the TR Nav gained it as part of the package but I am not sure that actual DAB radio was standard at that age but "DAB ready" (the DAB tuner just plugs into the back of the head unit) was. Even my facelift TSpirit doesn't have DAB as standard.

  6. I wonder if this info shouldn't be added to the Technical Hints & Tips pinned post? Perhaps PM Frostyballs to ask?

  7. OK, case closed! I got sick of the Chinese BS - I have ordered the Autel TPMS valves and Maxi TPMS pad from 3 different Chinese sellers and none of them shipped anything ever. Eventually I got a set of brand new original sensors on ebay.co.uk from a UK seller for a fraction of the price of the Chinese valves, got them registered in the ECU by a local Toyota dealer for a very reasonable price and the drama is finally over! Turned out that the new Auris accepts 2 sets of TPMS, so the main set does not get overwritten. It doesn't matter in what order they will be written to the ECU - just need to be written and the car manages them, so no re-learning necessary when rotating tyres. The only thing one needs to do after switching summer and winter sets is to press the TPMS initialization button in the glove box 3 times and that's it!

  8. Had the same problem after some nice person knocked mine out when they reversed into me. As Don stated, there is a single screw nearest the wheel which the bumper is retained by. Even if you relocate the two elongated, which should just push back in and click, without the one nearest the wheel fixed, the bumper just pops out again after a while. My lug was broken off so the screw would not hold it for long, You can access it more easily if you remove the inner plastic wheel arch. I could not repair the broken lug, so I just "superglued" it back in place and it hasn't moved in six months! Cheaper the a replacement bumper :D
