  1. Hello, First post. I recently replaced the TNS510 in my Auris Hybrid with a Carplay system. That means I have the old unit sitting in my garage. It's in full working order and it's available for free to a good home (+ postage costs) if anyone needs to replace a defective unit. I checked on ebay and it seems these don't get sold very often/at all. Is that because they are locked to the vehicle they are installed in? I don't have the wiring harness because I used that to wire up the Carplay unit so it's just the TNS510 itself. Please let me know if you're interested, and apologies if I've broken the rules by using the forum for this purpose. I'd prefer that someone gets some use out of it rather than it sitting in the garage or getting thrown out. On a related note I found loads of great information on this forum about how to wire in the carplay unit. The installer had no idea how to make the camera turn on when you put it in reverse (not possible on hybrids apparently...) so I did it myself and it works perfectly. So thanks for the great resource.

  2. Hi Nick and welcome Are you sure the beep wasn't sounding because a door/tailgate wasn't fully closed? The alarm doesn't detect electronic devices (apart from an iQ transponder key) I trust the spare key wasn't in the suitcase or somewhere in the car? I suggest you try again and check that doors and tailgate are closed properly. Dave

  4. I've fitted LED strip lights in my boot (and for footwell lighting) . If you're handy with a soldering iron and prepared to dismantle the interior trim they will solve the problem. I was able to install these strips using cable ties on either side of the boot under over-hanging mouldings so that they cannot be seen. Daisy-chaining into the existing wiring couldn't have been simpler. Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262453353235

  6. Hi Frank, First off - which D4D, 2.0 or 2.2? If 2.0 then 1CD or 1AD engine (2006 is about the changeover)? These will make a difference as will whether you have had your car serviced, tyre condition & inflation, load in/on car, the type of journey & driver that you are & the ambient temperature. To give you an idea I typically average 42mpg winter - 45mpg summer over the year in mixed motoring. However, I have seen it range from under 30 to middle 60s depending upon the individual journey. Also, remember that the car range counts down to "reserve" (afaik ~9 litres in an Avensis) & not empty. So when the car initially says range 0 you may in fact have enough fuel for another ~90 miles. It's typical Toyota caution.
