  1. I would have got the manual from Toyota (in the UK https://www.toyota.co.uk/tme#/my-toyota/eManual).

  2. Did you read my reply to the end? My car is taking accurate readings, available at the diagnostic port, then sending them to a display that deliberately over reads. Cost doesn’t come in to it. It’s a deliberate choice by Toyota, but why?

  3. Yes it was pretty stressful but i didn't cry! I guess i am a lot stronger than i thought and have to admit i did not know anything about 'Torque'. No one mentions 'torque' in any of the EGR cleaning videos or advise but then i guess if you do regular mechanics you know about this sort of stuff - i don't. I suppose its another new bit of knowledge and considering i will have to clean the EGR every 6-12 months its good to now everything! As cleaning the EGR is a job most avensis users have to do maybe my experience will be helpful to others and they won't make my mistake.

  5. What a shame. Whilst the current Gen4 is certainly challenging on the eye, it is also a proper design statement. The vertical rear lights are 'ugly' but they are also a standout feature and look brilliant in the dark. Those new rears manage to be a terrible hodgepodge of different styles whilst also being blandly forgettable. The new headlights are also depressingly boring compared to the current spiky design. I do understand that the general public have repeatedly proved that they generally like to buy boring-looking identikit cars in boring anonymous colours, but surely Toyota has the Auris/Corolla for that market. Keep the Prius looking visibly radical and revolutionary! On a related note, can anyone name a car which has been 'facelifted' mid-life that has actually looked better than the original? I'm struggling to think of one.

  6. fire extinguisher isn't standard fit in the UK. Compressor/tyre weld only normally comes as standard here if you have the (heavier) panoramic roof - otherwise you get a spacesaver spare.
