  3. Do NOT paint any front badges, the badges on later models with adaptive cruise etc are very special indeed, for the LIDAR to work, by painting it you run a serious risk of danger. Those badges are about £500, so not JUST an ordinary badge I believe Rhodium is about £4000 an ounce, what was just a London based problem has firmly moved northwards, criminal cartels organise these thefts, cats are stolen by young scroats who pass them up the gang line, they are then sent to India/China with no questions asked, to be dealt with, all cash transactions. I was listening to a chap on the radio the other day, very interesting subject, but with the likelihood of being caught being non existent, criminal gangs are just getting away with it, very sad, nobody could have seen this coming I doubt

  4. The real issue isn't so much the design of current cars in production, but stopping where the thieves can offload the stolen cats. From articles I've seen, the legislation covering sales of scrap metals only to authorised dealers, isn't being enforced, and until this is done, thefts are going to continue. Obviously changing the location of cats in current production models, isn't going to help owners of those vehicles which are out of production, and are targets for these thieves.

  5. Thanks for the suggestions folks. I looked at the car wow video (I couldn't find the "cow wow" one but I imagine it's udderly brilliant 🙂 ) and the noise it is talking about seems to be the mechanical one. I'll ask the dealer and report back.

  6. Exactly. I has an Austin A30 when a student. In 1967 got from Stonehaven to Turriff as last car through - narrow tyres. The Rover 2000 behind me got stuck in the snow and blocked the road.. Any car with wide low profile tyres is stuffed in snow..traction control or not..

  7. First mod. Fitted SR spec front mesh grill. Needs painting obviously but looks way better than the stock plastic slatted one with chrome trim. 😁

  9. even in an ordinary Prius! It takes quite a long time (and a while after the top gauge bar lights up) to fill the HV battery to a point that it refuses to accept any more regen, The first time I encountered it (after 50,000 miles without even seeing all bars lit) and it took some 4 miles going down a 20% gradient. When reaching level ground the car behaved like an EV as the Hybrid system desperately tried to use up the energy and make some space. There was no EV button on this model but for a while I could accelerate to about 60 mph without the engine starting.

  10. There is a Technical service bulletin that could apply to this issue, bulletin ref: BE-0003T-0112 , Subject: An open terminal in the wire harness connector is resulting in DTC P0335 and/or P0368. Description of Phenomenon: Some customers may complain that there is an open terminal in the wire harness connector that connects the engine wire harness with the camshaft position sensor which results in DTC P0335 and / or DTC P0368. Note: The described phenomenon only appears on the ZR-engine family. To check remove the top plastic engine cover and look for a label on the harness passing over the intake manifold if the label has a date between 28/01/2011 & 03/03/2011 then the harness is affected and requires replacing with a new harness. The bulletin assumes an issue under warranty and states to replace the engine wiring harness which is not a difficult job however the affected harness is very expensive @ £972 + vat.

  11. Back to the original post about the price difference I am sure many of the original buyers are company car drivers only interested in the tax break. This is shown by the only 2 variants available, business edition and excel. Ours (a 12 month 10000 mile Excel) was clearly never charged by the company car driver. In addition many are leased so the purchasing power of the leasing company will be significant. Realistically a company driver, with all car expenses paid by the company, can save between £1000 and £2000 a year. The company offset costs in a tax efficient way and a car that does 80+ mpg will always be attractive. So look for 1 to 3 year medium mileage models appearing soon, with 3 years or so warranty left, for trade prices. Almost certainly second hand prices will be close to the standard hybrid. Cheers toshtosh

  12. Just had mine fitted, £250 for £20 worth of metal. But that’s ok because I had my own service advisor and they washed the car and blacked the tyres🤣😂
