  1. So I just ordered a new Yaris and I was wondering if any secrets have been found so far, like the hidden diagnostic menus on older models? First post here so hi! and a picture of the car I ordered (not mine though but same colours etc.)

  2. I connected mine to the OBD11 Port on the Lexus while I was in Spain for 3 months. It was very successful and the car fired up immediately upon my return. I was careful to ensure that the Solar Panel was facing DUE SOUTH so as to collect the maximum amount of sunlight each day.

  3. Ready mode and solar charging are methods to keep 12v battery in healthy state not to rejuvenate or restore capacity on dead battery. Once battery is made flat only proper charging up to specific parameters and hours can eventually help but with the condition of using the car everyday afterwards, otherwise soon the recharged battery will go flat again. This is for people who use infrequently and on short trips only, the worst of all is not to use the car for weeks. here is some explanation of how 12v battery system works in Toyota hybrids

  12. Tyre pressure monitoring systems became mandatory on all new cars from November 2014. Think on RHD vehicles the reset button is tucked beneath the dashboard on the driver's side. TPMS on the Yaris is a direct system where sensors are mounted on each wheel. So if a front tyre/wheel were swapped with a rear tyre/wheel, the sensors would also be swapped.

  14. The earlier one is the 2sz-fe (cast iron block, Up to 2006), The 2NZ-FE (All alloy engine) is later in the P10 and Gen 2, the 1NR-FE is the 1.33 (2008 onwards) iirc the 2NZ was in the Jap built cars

  16. They are a completely different engine, the 2sz has slightly more hp but you won't notice

  17. However, when a key holder unlocks one door, by default (at least it was on mine), all the doors and boot unlock. I went into the menus on mine, and set it so that if the driver's door is unlocked using keyless entry, or if you press the unlock button on the remote, only the driver's door unlocks. It takes a second press of the fob button, or holding the driver's door handle more than about 5 sec to unlock the rest of the car.

  18. The system is a clever one and knows where the key is as Devon Aygo has said. You can't start the car without the key being inside the car - I have tried it quite a few times. Of course it is a different matter if you leave the engine running ! One additional thing is that when you go to open the doors the car knows which side the key fob is and will only unlock from the door nearest to the key. In your example, if your wife was stood by the locked drivers door a scally by the passenger door would not be able to unlock the car.

  19. Regarding running the car with a mix of petrol/diesel. You have to be careful as the violent pinking I am sure could damage the engine as the mix will have a low octane rating. So drive very gently and avoid pinking as best you can and as recommended keep topping up the ank with petrol and get the diesel duluted as fast as you can Good luck with it.

  20. As Jimitaxi has said partially the answer depend how much diesel and how much petrol mixed with diesel fuel is in the tank. If there is only a little diesel in the tank then filling the tank with petrol and just emptying out what is in the fuel line should work ok. The car engine will run with a mixture of diesel and mostly petrol. If there is a lot of diesel in the tank all you can do ids empty the tank. To empty the tank you need to remove the fuel line and then short out two of the terminals in the fuse box and run the fuel pump. I am not sure which terminals but someone here will be along to confirm that. I did this and fortunately only had to pump out 5 gallons before able to top up with petrol.

  21. You can also buy a genuine part on eBay for £9.12 delivered. It's sold directly by Lexus but exactly the same as the Auris part http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261819780281?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Just to note that EuroCarParts sell the OEM Denso front wiper blades and I picked up a pair when they had one of their frequent 30% off weekends for less than £20 a pair delivered.
