  1. I took a chance and installed a USB/Bluetooth adapter, which was not listed for my car or audio system - W53828. This cost £52.50 free post. After receiving my trim tools from eBay the work began. I found a guide on the net on how to remove the trim to get to the rear of the stereo. First was the top vent then the passenger side trim near the heater controls. After removing the stereo, the CD changer port was empty so I plug the adapter cable in. A quick test with one of my USB memory sticks, and all was fine. I tested another with no issues. I put the unit in the glove box and ran the mic cable from the roof lining. Like any other unit, the display only shows folder, track number time played. No artist or title details like the MP3 CD. Not tested the Bluetooth function yet, but paired one of my 2 phones, so both phones are handsfree. Sound quality is very good and I can change tracks. Very pleased. PS: This unit does not support Apple stuff through the USB cable. Only via Bluetooth! Bluetooth playback using my Samsung Galaxy S3, works well with full control of track changing. iPhone/iPod should work the same.

  2. Guys... What a start to my Monday morning... Got in the car...keyless start...so 1 press...2 press...and duh duh duh...nothing...battery dead as in completely depleted! Weird how the onboard info screen at one point said Check VSC..didnt show up again. Anyhoo...walked to work...walked back from work...rang around...decided on a Exide premium car battery from Eurocarparts...perfect fit...with a 4 year guarantee... The only thing that made me think is...the old Toyota battery was a 77 Ah / 800A...whereas the Exide is a 72Ah / 720A..however nobody local sells a 800A battery for my vehicle...does this mean Toyota can only supply such a battery and why is it so Amped up...all the motor factors i spoke to said that its too powerful and that i dont need that much power to crank my engine...even if it is a 2.0 diesel. Car starts fine now...was pretty disturbed this morning though! Look forward to the comments guys. Just to mention i normally go Bosch S4 or S5...but these Exides look good...better than a Varta. Noticed Duracell have their own batteries...made me smile...they look like a gimmick with a 5 year guarantee!

  4. Enjoy, particularly the thrust that comes in around 3-3.5K RPM, although don't be discouraged by the apparent misfire around 80MPH in third, it's the rev limiter!

    Mpg

If you peruse the service book, you'll find a breakdown of what each service entails. Mines serviced regularly and with the right spec stuff and after nearly 90k miles , mpg is still up and down like a whores draws

  6. If it's a pain to start I would replace the glow plugs if they haven't been replaced already. Especially this time of year as extra cold. Try turning ignition on till glow plug light goes out then off again and on till light goes out so effectively heating twice and see if makes any difference . You can test each plug to see if ok with a meter but a new set would be the way to go for me. Genuine Denso set (4) around £50 on eBay.

  7. Hello Robert - welcome to Toyota Owners Club. I haven't seen any other posts regarding the TPMS valves breaking. There is a spare wheel kit (spacesaver spare) available for the Verso.

  8. Did you check the oil level? 1.8L 1ZZ FE are famous oil burners. Maybe the engine did run out of oil and if some parts are dry in the engine, it starts making sounds like yours. Does any oil coming out the exhaust?

  9. but as I said lots of these small turbo petrols don't actually deliver in the real world anything like the mpg (& therefore emissions) that they do in EU tests - you only need to look at the likes of What Car's Truempg to see that e.g. Focus Zetec 1.0 Ecoboost- official 56mpg, average Truempg 35 .... that's nearly 40% less :o & that's before mentioning that being more complicated they are equally less reliable (& more expensive to fix).
