  1. You must report the pothole to your local authority soonest Andrue.

  2. Yes, many have had success with solar chargers. I have not in the past, I think it is because my driveway is North facing, and only gets direct sunlight for a couple of hours a day in the summer, nothing much in winter. My only choice is a mains charger really, or follow the Toyota lock down process. I took the car for a run out today, first reasonable trip for weeks, so hoping the 12V is back up to speed.

  3. I always run my cars in as well, old habits and all that, most dealers are salespeople and know very little about their product mechanically (some service managers know even less!) The days of 'poor' tolerances and the obligatory first oil change at 500/600 miles to drain the iron filing sludge out, and the instructions not to exceed various revs in each gear for the first 1000 miles or so started disappearing in the 80's for some makes (my local Vauxhall dealer said no need to run in the Astra GTE in 1985, advice which I promptly ignored).

  4. Bad luck Andru. Only good thing is that it didn't happen at speed on the A43. And that the tyre stayed up. The gunk stuff we have in the boot would not be much good in that situation. Glad you are OK.

  6. Goodyear efficient grip performance 2 or Vector 4 season 2 as alternative to Michelin. But both makes one of the best tyres available these days. 👍

  7. Yeah, I think I was getting to the same conclusion. I don't want to end up causing myself more problems. I think instead I will invest in a lithium jump starter for if I have any further issues. I do also have a solar charger, but even with that I recently still ended up with a flat battery. That was after it had been very cold for a week or so and the has only done a few miles a week for several months now so the battery was probably in quite a bad state. Hopefully with the warmer weather and slight easing of lockdown rules the problems will ease.

  8. Michelin would be my first choice. Agree with John.

  9. Michelin Pilot or Michelin Cross Climate for all year round use.

  10. In large cities and towns, it is quite common to have separate showroom/PDI/Workshops because of space. This could be the reason perhaps?

  11. Provided there are no Macdonalds wrappers in the back when it's delivered you should be ok, fingers crossed it's not a rainy day, difficult to check the paintwork when wet😀 As everyone has noted, nominal mileages are fairly standard on new cars. My car had a Brucie Bonus on collection, the dash cam installation footage of the servicing bays and staff wandering around and the careful manoeuvring of the car back into the vehicle park.

  12. Moved to the Corolla club. Does the dealer do new car preparation at a different site to the showroom? At the end of the day, some minimal mileage is usually on new cars when customers take delivery - movement around the distribution centre, around the dealer's premises, loading on and off transporters, etc, etc. I've had 21 new cars and every one has had a handful of miles recorded.

  13. Wow, that is such a beautiful looking T22. You just don't see Mk1/T22 estates around at all and I can't the last time I saw one, if I ever have (no, I 'm absolutely positive I have but was I aware of it within my field of vision, I don't know). Anyway, looking at this sweet example it' s a shame they aren't much more plentiful. It sits lovely, nice wheels and if the bodywork and paintwork is in good condition and well looked after it is very hard to top a proper white car. I've seen very few T22s in white either for real out on the road or in photos or images online but I have to say it really looks great in this colour [emoji4][emoji4] Sent from my SM-A202F using Tapatalk

  14. Hello, I managed to resolve this issue. The red wire is on pin 4 and the green wire is on pin 18. It works! Thanks again for the help and hope this helps others too.

  15. Took the car for its service today. Took 'em best part of a day to do it. Anyway they noticed the front tyres were getting worn (<3mm) and they offered to replace them for £140 which isn't too bad. So I asked them to put the new tyres on the rear because that's what I prefer. Anyway I went to pick the car up and noticed they hadn't done what I asked. But it was too late to complain so I decided I'd live with it. Coming back I got slightly lost (I always do from that side of Northampton) and ended up on the back road that the sat nav prefers. I hit a hellacious pot hole. Or something. Dunno what really but it was a helluva bang. Get back home and guess what? The near side tyre has a slash in it. It's on the sidewall just above the (also damaged) rim. I've got no choice but to drive on it for 30 miles as I have an eyetest shortly but first thing tomorrow I get to spend £90 on a new tyre and a wheel alignment test. If only the dealer had done what I asked I'd only have lost an old(ish) tyre. Although I suppose me being me I'd have replaced them both anyway for symmetry so perhaps this is cheaper. But replacing a tyre after it's only driven 35 miles is annoying. I wish my damn sat nav wouldn't keep trying to get me to take that road through Blisworth. Stupid machine.

  16. I sympathise. I drove my Yaris today, 18 miles around town, got an indicated 81 mpg, brilliant! Unfortantely smashed into a newly formed pothole not far from home. Probably damaged wheel/tyre/suspension, was a heck of a bang, roads are in a terrible state at the moment.

  17. Now I remember when I had my new set of wheels and tyres fitted last spring I had a large nail straight into the new tyres in the first week, was crying and pulling my hair. 😂
